RAYS mazdaspeed wheels?

I was kind of hoping for one size larger than stockers....... 19" and I can get almost any tire at "wholesale" price.... (thanks in part to my gf's friend's brother, whom I know well)

but I'm starting to think, maybe I should just go 18" and use the stock tires, and give the car a nice drop on the 18" wheels I decide with....... it's REALLY hard to choose man :( I'm sure the enkei's are nice but after seeing my friend and the bad experience he had with some he purchased.... I've kinda decided to shy away from him. and the 5-Zigen wheels I've looked at are about maybe $390 per wheel is the cheapest I've found....

Stick with 18"s. The price of tires are cheaper, they weigh less and you lessen the chance of bending a rim.

The wheels in the first post are great but I can't see anyone paying that price for them unless you have disposable income. Knock-offs by Rota (check www.machiii.net) and Exel (check www.wheelmax.com) are perfectly fine and will give you the look without the price. Almost all Rota rims come in a variety of colors including black and they are often lighter than the original.

Some people like to b**** that knock-offs are poor quality and bend easily...well who cares, they are so much cheaper than the real thing you can buy two sets and still save almost 50%.

What bad experience did your friend have with Enkei wheels?

he bought a pair of those shurikens, or whatever style that was (they looked nice) something happened with the front passenger wheel, i'm not sure if someone at the wheel place might have spilled a corrosive on it, or his wheel was a bad one in the bunch...... but 3 of the spokes broke off when he was doing 75 on the freeway (the limits 70) and he basically ruined his rotor/axle/bumper area as the car practically "fell" off it's wheel....... he had a 'teg type-r at the time (stock looking, not riced). :(

Those wheels in your avatar look nice.....are those yours? are they enkei? lol

Those are bad ass. Authentic? I know all the Mazdaspeed rims made by Rays were a lower offset so we couldn't run them on our Proteges.

Nice!

there *are* rays mazdaspeed wheels that fit the proteges

Wow that sucks. And yes they are mine, and they are Enkeis.

Thanks, yes they are 18s. The tires are Kumho Ecsta SPTs in 225/45

dude tirerack is pissing me off....... they advertise that they have wheels (even a description of the wheel says like "sizes available from 16-19 inches"

and then when i pick the ms6 as my car it says "we're sorry but we do not have [your rim] available in 18 inches"

(pissed)

They have an enkei wheel that I like how it looks and a wheel from G-Games/RAYS.....

:(

I just got around it by changing the car. Try an RX-8 or a Honda Accord. Or you can just browse by brand and then call them to find out the offsets available. I couldn't get the SSR SP1 to come up until I put in a Honda Accord. Apparently the +43 offset was considered to low for any Mazda.

Here's how they look on a Titanium Gray MS6

Damn, I just noticed the MS-Atenza gets a rear wiper. I miss that from my P5.

Those are different wheels. Notice how the spokes hit the lip of the rims? On mine (the car in my pic), they don't. They taper inwards.

Damn it I want that rear bumper!!!!!!

Dave they look nice, now lower your car :D

also the rims on the blue speed6, those are supposed to be the original rims that were going to come on the MS6 from factory.......at least those were the rims they had on the car when I first saw it at the autoshow...

Actually those wheels on the blue MS6 are the Advan Model 5, which are discontinued. The closest match to them would be the Exel Ennio wheels which are sold thru Wheelmax.com. Also, Enkei makes JDM Mazdaspeed wheels that look similar. For the money though, I would go with the Exel Ennios since they cost about $550 for a set of 4 wheels (just be cautious of Wheelmax customer service, alot of bad reviews). Both the Advan Model 5 and Enkei JDM Mazdaspeed wheels would run you in the upper $2000 for a set.

Yeah that's a little more than I want to spend, lol

The Mazdaspeed wheels are just too plain Jane for $2000+ a set. Not extremely light either.

16.7 lbs is pretty light to me........ most of the other wheels I've looked at don't fall under 18 or 19 lbs.... though they do look nicer...... and compared to the stocks being 23.5 lbs as someone told me, I'd like my new wheels to stay under 20 lbs....(dunno)
