rattling/flapping in passenger door ?

hey..i recognised that weird sound yesterday when i was driving on the autobahn...

from about 140kph+ there is a rattling sound coming from the passenger door and it gets louder the faster i drive... it somehow sounds like you held a plastikbag out of the windows which would flatter in the fast winds.....

i touched several parts of the door assembly (while driving fast) to see if something was loose but it had no effect at all... do you have ANY idea what this could be?????? it makes me kind of nervous.....

factory plastic guard inside the doors, yank it and dynomat over thre. problem solved... it flutters due to wind blowinginto the door. weatherseals aren't really allthat tight. THe good news is nothing's gonna fall apart... jsut be annoying til you get in there... the dyonomat'll also quiet your ride and instantly increase your midbass

you mean that plastic foil which ought to keep moisture outside...well, that was the first thing that came to my mind but i find it curious that this thing suddenly starts to react to the wind after 3 years of ownership (especially because i think: HOW in the world does fast winds come into the interior of my door???)

i will see as soon as i ripped the door apart.. since "dynomat" won't be avail here, what material is it..what shall i look out for?

hm just found the homepage dynamat.com

what is that material ? i will need to get something similar down here

Dynamat is just overpriced roofing barrier with some foil slapped on it :)

go to a hardware store (like Menard's, Home Depot, Lowe's) and ask them for untextured roofing weather barrier. It should come in a box/roll like you would buy an area rug, about 1/4 thick or so, rubbery material.

Be careful with this, it is NOT exactly the same, dynamat is indeed different, for one check temperature ranges, alot of roofing barrier will fall off if it gets toowarm (in-car temps can get up there) also adhesion isn't necessarily as strong period menaing when you're using it to stretch over "holes" the weight of the material itself can't entirely be supported by the small area it's clinging with.

hey...
i now got precise plans on what to do...

the outer door plate will be covered with alfablue because it's relatively easy to work with and people who used it say it's more effective as any bitumen-based sheets (1mm alfablue = 3mm bitumen sheet)...

i also found somebody in the german community who will help me with making the spare tire subwoofer enclosure from fibreglass...

but i'm still not really happy with the options for the inner door plate / what should be put on the rain foil etc...

i saw pics like these

i have a few questions
a) i suppose the rain foil is supposed to stay in the door, even when using dynamatlike mats or so because those mats will not keep moisture/water out of the car, right?

b) what are the black colored moldings in the rain foil good for?

c) is it possible to make the oem rain foil immobile when putting things like dynamat over them? i wouldnt want to use a dozen of that mats just to realise that my rain foil is still farting inside when i turn up the volume...

d) is it true that side airbags have sensors for an air pressure drop which could be effected by air coming through the doors / improper sealing of the rainfoil ?

------
small update

i removed the door panels and was amazaed by all the dirt and moisture i found in the inner part of the door
i will spend some time now cleaning this whole crap
