Rattles

I need some help with a rattling problem (I'll try me best to describe it). I have this rattle coming from (seems to be coming from) behind the instrument panel or along the firewall when I start the car in the morning, after work or letting it sit for a few hours. It doesn't rattle right away...only when the RPM's drops down to about 1300-1400 and only lasts for maybe 10-15 seconds when the RPM's keeps dropping. I took it to the dealer last week to have them check it out and they told me it was my intake hitting the side of the hole where the filter goes down (it's not even close to hitting the sides). They also replaced the delay valve under warranty because of the service bulletin (this was for another rattle I was getting).

Anybody else have this sort of rattle? Any information you can provide me is greatly appreciated. I plan on bringing it back in this week but want to be more prepared with some information.

BTW, does anyone know where the delay valve is located? To me, it doesn't look like they touched anything under the hood and want to make sure this was done.

Thanks,

Loco

That's weird I also have an Injen CAI and I don't get that at all runs perfectly. Did you relocate the PCV w/ the bracket that came with the kit and put the little rubber support that is suppose to keep the intake from moving. This usually happens to people who buy the e-bay intakes not the ones with the injen intake. I suggest you do a search on the forum I've heard of these before.

ya the rubber support is installed. I've checked everything in and around the intake and nothing is hitting it. I've had the intake on since last Feb so it couldn't be an install problem. This rattle started this winter and didn't experience any rattles last winter after the install.

Another point to note is that I have the heater position set at half windshield half floor and at speed 1. Any speed greater than 1 and you can't hear the rattle.

Does it sound like it's in the dash? I've removed the little kick panels on the center console and also had to put some tape on the instrument cluster surrond to get rid of a few rattles.

My cruise control main switch rattles when its in the off position on cold days. It drove me crazy when I didnt know what it was.

I just fixed a ton of rattles on the roof liner and othe places, but I have somehow managed to get more rattles on the back of the car and the front A pillar. Its a loosing battle.

Its the instrument panel. The clear cover rattles against the dash. Just put something in between and it should go away... weatherstripping or rubber should work. Although its kinda annoyin that the dealer said it was your CAI. also if u need a temp fix push the clear cover everytime it rattles and it will go away for awhile.

With the instument cluster all I did was remove the cover and wrap electrical tape on the two pins(lower part above the clips) . All gone now. Headliner is another story.....gotta dynamat up there.

ya it sounds like it's right behind the instrument panel or directly below it. I've even tried locating the cause by having the hood open when it starts rattling and can't find the source.

I'll try all your suggestions to see if it fixes it.

Thanks

Try pressing down on various parts of the dash. Also try pressing on the two lower center panel kick panels.

Well...it's not the clear cover over the instrument panel nor the kick panels on the center console. It seems like it's on the firewall. I'll try later, once the car has enough time to cool off.

Anybody know where the delay valve is?

fyi i had my front passenger door rattling and i just loosened then tightened the two screws on the handle and one below it. fixed all the sounds.
