Rattle around steering column

Hi everyone,

Do you guys having experience with rattle from around steering column? My cx5 sometime has rattles "tac tac tac" sounds like plastic to plastic touch each other. And it happen random, and make me nuts because when i drive the car to dealer, the rattle always disappear.

There's a TSB about something similar...depends what model year, this was awhile ago

Same thing, just give little more gas then it will be gone.

I do have the same problem. Dealer claims he corrected it, but the rattling is still there although the noise varies with temperature etc.

Applied the TSB as per attached, didn't solve the problem (yet).

Yes, this TSB not solve the problem. And this applied for production 2012, mine is 2014.

Mine rattles when I am at 20+mph, if I increase the speed the rattle noise will be disappeared. All Mazda car rattles, my 13 Mazda 6 rattle more than this car, since it is around steering column, it will not be easy to reach. Go talk to your dealersihp and see what they can do about it. Usually they will said, our technician didn't heard any rattle noise and something like that.

Yes exactly, and very annoying.

Only complain i have for this car is the rattle, rattles on different spot. My first different case, I heard the rattle from center dasboard around the radio, removed and check the radio, found nothing. Later I realize the rattle coming from my sun glasses inside the sun glases glove. problem solve.

Then i get this steering column area rattles, this bothering me alot. But last night i checked the bottom of the seat, found the airbag cables holder are little bit loose, I tried move the cables and the sound seems like the rattle i heard from steering wheel "tac tac tac". I will try to hold with some cable ties, hopefully I found the source.

What interesting about the rattles from cx5 are the area rattle what we hear is different with the actual rattle source came from. Seems like the rattle sound creepage through the cabin. Very confusing to track.

And.. Not working, the rattle doesn't coming from cable under driver seat.
