RATS - I wanted a Mini but my MSP drives better...

OK,. I confess. I really wanted a Mini. Badly. Blue with a white checkered flag roof, checkered flag mirrors, the Harmon Kardon sound system, the new center instruments option with the speedo where God intended (in front me the driver), xenons, driving "lamps"...

I have 3 kids and thought I needed space for 5 people in the car and so... eliminated the Mini from the list. In over a year I've had 5 people in the car ONCE and only because we didn't WANT to take the already-available minivan.

So I goes and drives this Mini, see, on my way home. Flogged it. actually. To me, my MSP handles better - even taking into account that I'm familiar with it. My MSP accelerates better, though I will certainly accept the "turbo lag" argument. My MSP seats are as comfortable as Mini's "sport" seats, and more comfortable than their optional "adjustable lumbar" seats or their base seats. I have a trunk, it's small but it's multiple times larger than the Mini.

Yes, the Mini's cool, but dynamically maybe we really did get the better deal.
So... while it's not a Mini, it's mine. Maybe it's time for a checkered flag decal for my black roof? Quick, somebody photochop that for me...

I have beaten several Mini's at test drive days, and while i like the Cooper S, there is no way in hell i could justify the added cost to get one.
Not to mention, they aren't any faster, they don't handle any better, they just look cool and cost more than my MSP IMHO.

^^ well my gf is gonna get one, so that makes sense...tell you what tho, i won't mind driving that around instead of her cherokee, hehe

The John Cooper Works Mini is pretty badass. I wouldn't mind one of those, but tack that on to a nicely equipped S and you're looking at almost $30,000... WAAAY too much.

no car is better than the MSP.....

what happened to all the "I hate my car" threads?

30K? My buddy got his S for 25K, with everything but navigation. He's got an intake and a pulley and it's pretty darn quick.

The John Cooper Works package add $5000 to the nicely equipped S. Therefore the end cost is around $30,000 for a 200hp Mini.

I'm sure they're neat cars and would be an absolute blast to drive, I guess since I haven't driven one it's not a fair statement, but when I consider what other cars around $30,000 can do, I'm a bit put off by the price.
