2001 Mazda Protege MP3
Ok, so i bought a set of ksport coilovers in a group buy on here probably about a year and a half ago, surely enough after the first year one of the struts blew.. Big surprise right? lol.. Well i ordered a replacement strut from ksport towards the end of July.. This is when this whole ordeal begins.. I call them trying to order a replacement strut for my MP3, come to find out that Ksport has changed the design of the coilover.. Now instead of a shock body of 50mm in diameter it is now 52mm. So i order pretty much an entire new coilover, thinking thats what i would get.. but NO, they end up sending me a new coilover for a speed 3. It gets delivered to my house about 3 weeks later, and i immediatly realize its not the right one. I call Ksport agian and explain i didnt get the right one, they say ok well send out the right one. This time i wait probably 2 weeks to recieve anything from them. I get a new 52mm strut, lock and collars and the bottom mount. Somethings missing right?? An endlink bracket.. Mind you this entire time my car has been sitting on jackstands in the garage with no strut sice the first package was recieved. So once agian i call the idoitic people at ksport and tell them i need the endlink braket for the 52mm strut. Well that package gets delivered today, and turns out.. they sent the worng bracket, they sent one to fit the old 50mm strut... At this point im about to give up, its been about a month an a half and havent recieved the $275 worth of s*** i payed for. TO EVERYONE BEST INTEREST STAY AWAY FROM KSPORT! There customer service rep is an idoit, and should you ever need replacement parts plan to wait a good month to get the right s***..

End rant..

^I wouldn't call everything that is aftermarket "bulls***"...there ARE some good companies out there you know, whether you use their parts or not: Eibach, Racing Beat, Quaife to name just a few in the mazda community, let alone others.

the cream of the crop companies are the ones that also supply parts to auto makers or factory tuners... those are in a different league

most of the other aftermarket companies suck... they either copy from others *cough*gtspec*cough*, or they make s*** that kind of fits but leave out other important little pieces such as clamps and bolts... or give you bad parts for that matter

I've dealt with companies who take care of their customers as well. It just kind of rediculus how some companies can be so careless about their customer support

Man i just had the same kinda deal this weekend three times. I was working on a 1.8t. i ordered headlights (well they change the bulb sizes and were not even wired right) So i order H4 bulbs to fit and i get 9007 (will not work but luckly they fit the wifes cobalt) and then the CAI. Dose not fit right and called about it and "what you got is what you get". No atempt to resolve or refund. (Sorry but if you live and work in the US speak english.) So after lose IQ points talking to this first class moron i hung up and did what i do best. What do you know with enough hammering and sawing and drilling it fits right. (Looks good where it sits atleast and works)

Point of story...
Over 50% of these companys arelooking for $ and they get it by prices not by quality or customer loyalty. Just watch out.

why not just go to autozone and pickup a set of 9003s and be done with it?
if you want to get QUALITY light bulbs, just get them from candlepower!

I ordered piaa's but i did go to advanced and got the h4 hella's. OMG they out perform any light i have ever used. Piaa and silverstar included. I just ordered everthing online to be convenient. (bit me in the a$$)

I use osram hypers myself... they are 10 watt over stock... bright as ******* hell... people I pass think I have my high beams on even though they are aimed to EDM specs

Had an install issue with the ksport RR. Special ordered the struts for a P5 from far of land (3 weeks). The bracket for the rear sway bar is like 5" higher than my stock struts for a P5. I called the guy at Ksport and at first he was like "its your sway bar and or endlinks". I said here is a pic of my STOCK shock and here is a pic of yours right next to it. Then he was like "oh, I'll get back to you". So now I am waiting to see what kind of customer service Ksport really has. If this was me (I do a ton of ebay) Id be overnighting the correct s*** as fast as I could. meh at least its a race car and I have till April to get this s*** straightened out. BUT if any of you guys could tell me the diff between a P5 rear strut and a normal Protege rear strut let me know. Here some pics of mine.

Interesting. I had nothing but great customer service when my K-Sports blew. Mind you, the situation was far simpler as they had not yet changed the dimensions of the strut.

I was considering them for my next coilover purchase, whenever that is. Pending the outcome of this thread that might change, I guess.

I dont really understand why you have issues with your Ksports. Mine fit perfectly so did many others, based on that picture you have the wrong lower strut mount on those coils, as my rear sway attach directly to the strut mount.

rears are the closer coils.

you can see the tab for the rear sway

That's right they should have the mount at the bottom. They sent me the wrong ones, and now they don't want to fix this problem. So my problem is not with the product but with Eric at ksportsusa in Arizona (AKA customer support).

So. The story is that when the sway mount is on the lower mount it causes the sway links to snap. SO the upgrade is to have the mount up on the threads of the shock body. SO without telling anyone about this they are indeed being generous by supplying me with 13" end links. I just hope nothing rubs or bends as I have a 22mm AWR sway bar on top of their 672LBS spring rate. And just like my user name I intend on taking this car faster than any SM in my racing council. AKA 110MPH through the kink at Road America.

Dude, I drive the s*** out of my car and have not had any issues with anything.

I have a 21mm AWR and Endlinks in the rear..

I'm a really dumb person and was able to make it work, a Smart guy such as yourself should have no trouble...

Personally I feel that you need to try a bit harder to make it work...

SO. like two weeks later I got the end links (very nice and made of aluminum with some dope ball joint ends). Yet I asked, AND was told it would show up NO SIGNATURE REQUIRED (I work 6 days a week). Bull s***. It showed up signature required. So like 4 days later I picked them up at a Kinko's (weekend + work). Anyway to get them to work with my AWR sway bar I had to modify one end to utilize the AWR sway bar mount (AKA $8 tap). Then they installed with no problems. I still love Ksports RR because the fact that the shocks have major adjustments. Also adjusting the ride height with out having to use helper springs or the like like is KEY. The fact that the lowers have built in camber adjustments, and upper pillows have major camber adjustments front and rear is a PLUS when changing tracks and brands of tires. I can't wait to take them to the tack to set them up and move on from there. People say that its "better" to adjust rebound and compression individuality, but in the real world I don't think they would ever want to put forth the effort it would take to go though the same corner over and over and over with the same car, same tires, same tire pressure, same EVERYthing to make sure that that is what they want (AKA seat of the pant means s***). The simplicity of these coilovers are nice. But not to simplified. Also as mostly a aluminum shock they let up a bunch of unsprung weight.

BUT I guess as was said earlier after market fitment sucks. But I was glad that they were up to the task to make things right. I rock no stickers as I feel stickers are a cry for attention. But as I was helped by this company I feel they deserve a bit of marketing. So they are represented at my front corners. Thanks KSPORT!
