Random multiple cylinder misfire???

Clean your EGR, there is a how to on here and is pretty straight forward and simple to do.

Switch your ignition coils, check your plugs, and reset your ecu. How many miles on your car? I had the multiple misfire and both ignition coils were bad. I bought new ones for 14.00 each at rockauto.

How many miles did you have when they went bad? I'm at 79k on original coils (3rd set of wires though) with no problems yet.

I had the exact same problem with Protege, which is the exact same eveything as Stieh101, about this time last year. I had to pay out the wazoo to have all 4 injectors replaced.

And that actually fixed it?

I Pretty much seem to have the same problem as you on my car right now and I wanted to know if changing your coil fixed the issue? Also did you end up ordering the coil from rockauto because Im from Canada too?

Thanks

For anyone interested, here is the latest on my car.

I took it to my friend so he could have a look. Well it took us a while but we finally got it to act up. So what he did was while the car was running we pulled out the far left spark plug wire and nothing happened. There was absolutely no spark. We pulled the other plug wire (3rd) and sure enough the car was running even rougher and you could tell that plug had a spark. So we switched the coil packs left for right. Of course we couldnt get the car to act up again at all that night. So yesterday it started so I checked the 3rd plug wire, and sure enough no spark, checked the first one and yes it did have a spark. So I figure it is that one coil pack that is bad and needs to be changed.

I have another question though. Here in Canada the Coils are aprox. $150.00 but I saw them at Auto Zone in the U.S.A. for only $17.99. Does that sound right to anyone? $17.99 seems too cheap.

guys...i had the same problem....ended up being a blown head gasket/and or crack in the head....it ran o.k. CEL said #4 engine misfire, changed all the electronics coli packs, wires, plugs, looked into the cylinder to see fluid atop my piston.......take a look down in there i treid everything you guys did, but the fluid in mine was antifreeze.....

Rockauto and autozone may tell you that they are on backorder. If they aren't then go ahead and get two of them. You can just replace the one that is bad and have a spare for the other one.

I have a 5% off discount code for rockauto, as always, so PM me if you want it.

When mine went out last time they were all on backorder so I got an ignition coil for a 1.8 and plug wires and switched to that. The parts were cheaper that the dealership cost for one 2.0 coil and there is a how to on here. It may be worse case scenario but at least you would have other options to fix the problem. Mine is a DD so I had to fix it asap.
