Rally Chicago to MPLS- Get together at MOA- who's interested? 5-14-05

11 rally teams (cars) so far!!! hoping to break 20(NO MORE, WE'RE NOW SHOOTING FOR 50!!!) cars at the MOA.

DATE: Saturday May 14...
time/location leaving Chicago to be determined just hang in there, it's 4 months away. But it looks like we'll be leaving somewhere right on the WI/IL border around noon.

The Chicago boys are coming to Minneapolis for their rally this year!!! And don't worry about tickets or killing your car as it is a stategic rally, not a speed race. here's the link:

The rally is from Chicago TO the MOA in Bloomington, so once we got here, our driving would be done, while the Chicago guys would be driving back the next day.

The rally is driving from the Chicago location to the MOA taking no more than 30 miles of major highway and going no more than 10 mph over the posted limit, so its more scenic than anything. It is the first person to the MOA that wins, but the winner will be determined by who takes the best route as apposed to who drives the fastest. It sounds fun to me, and it would be interesting to ride with some guys from another area.

I've invited a ton of Mazda's: about 20 MSP's, a few Mazda3/6's, a ton of P5's and Proteges, about 10 RX7's, about 5 RX8's, a bunch of MX3/6's and a few Miata's. I'm thinking about 35 cars are CONFERMED that they are GOING FOR SURE!!! With one week to go...this should be excellent!

I've also talked to "Players" night club, they are all ages and open LATE, and they are looking into cutting us some food/drink specials which would be nice. I'm starting to PM people and get everyone marking their calanders. I can't wait!

Also...

Thinking of geting a meet together the day they arrive. Sounds like they want to do the MOA thing, so it's more eating/drinking/on the 4th floor than anything. And that sound's cool too. I will continue to update everyone on when it is going down, and when the teams should expect to arrive at the MOA that day.

So I guess I have a partner, but you all are welcome to create your own teams, I will continue to update and ALL IMPORTANT INFO WILL BE UPDATED ON THE FIRST THREAD so you wont have to read the whole forum to figure out what's up.

My wife and I plan to go the day before and see some sights in Chi town, then hotel it for a night before heading back with the rally.

AND...what time?/where is the starting line?

May I suggest the Finish line be the MOA West parking garage TOP floor (highest you can go on the WEST garage) that's where we've met when we get together and it works. (there are 2 parking garages east/west pretty easy to figure out your way)

you are correct, early afternoon on the 14th. the starting line is TBD but I am thinking the abandoned parking lot (R.I.P. Service Merchandise) near my apartment complex sounds good

i always wanted to ride that conveyor belt. the clerk told me at christmas time that santa's elves worked on the other end of the belt and that it ran straight from the north pole to the store. needless to say, when the Nintendo Entertainment System i asked for did not come down the belt i came to the conclusion that santa wasn't real. either that or some ******* elf stole my NES

I'm going 100% gauranteed, so if you go it would be cool to see another MN guy there. if you don't do it (as it is a BIG commitment) we are planing 2 meets (one the Sat night when the Chi town guys/myself get in town and another at rock falls raceway in Wisconsin) So I'm sure I'll see you around

The one meet will be at the MOA Saturday may 14th in the evening. I will continue to update the first post in this thread. We'll be leaving from Chicago around noon, so I'd imagine people will get to the MOA around 6 or 7.
