Radio / Speakers on CX-5 SPORT model

I agree those might be the best. I have these speakers in my Jeep. The fronts I have the component version with the tweets in the dash. I have the regular ones in the back doors. Same setup as the CX-5 really. I would recommend getting the component version for the front and getting a 3.5 adapter to house the tweets.

CX-5 Touring and GS 6 speaker system use 2, 1" dash tweeter mounted in adapter and 6.5" speaker in each door.

Remove factory tweeter and install component tweeter and reinstall.

I ended up ordering the two KD62-66-960 speakers and will be receiving them some time this week. I had a leaner touring model from the dealer for a day with the six speak factory unit and it was an impressive (and noticeable) difference between the two. For less than $35, I really can't see a reason not to do it, especially if you have no intention of installing aftermarket speakers or a stereo.

if you use the KD62-66-960 speakers do they plug right in and no 3rd party connectors or splicing needed?

thx

I just ordered the oem speakers for $26 from my local dealer, easier and half price and easir then dealing with the polks. What is the center dash speaker for? Has anyone tackled that?

You will notice more of a difference with Polk db351 in the dash than the factory tweeters. If you try I would be surprised if you don't notice an improvement in the front sound stage, where the vocals sound like they are in front of you instead of sound coming from your knees.

Are the dash speakers wired as tweeters? I know they're split off of the front door. I'm wondering because if I decide to amp the door speakers later down the road, would I need just a 4 channel or would I need a 4 channel plus a 2 channel for the 2 dash speakers.

This will also determine to get a touring with Bose or not with Bose. I'm leaning more towards with out Bose. Also can you still install the d pillars still if you don't have Bose. I thought about getting a sport model but I like the keyless entry by just pushing the button and the blind spot monitoring.

I would be more concerned about the engine power, than a remote.
The tweeters, are connected to the front door speakers. I'm wondering myself about the total resistance of this setup.
The sport model, does not have tweeters, at least that how it was, on the older models.
It would be less ohms at front then the rear, since at the rear there are no tweeters?

2016 Sports have the 2.5L engine. I wouldn't consider anything other lol

But okay cool, yeah i have read that the sport doesn't have the dash speakers but the wires/connector for them are there.

If you do it by using a pair of component speakers (Woofer and tweeter in the same set) you would only need a 4 channel amp because: they generally provide a crossover with the package for each side.
The speaker lead from the amp would run into the crossover which then splits to a set of wires for the tweeter (dash) and a set of wires for mid woofer (door) see attachment...
