I've got a Greddy radiator cap but it doesn't fit. Anyone know which cap works?

Thanks,

-Alan

The GReddy doesn't fit? Hmm, I thought it was one of the only two that does. Anyhow, I've got the green MazdaSpeed 1.3 Bar. Fits just like factory. (Which would make sense since it basically is.) lol.

The reason it probably doesn't fit is because it may be a Calsonic style cap. For our manual transaxles, we need the Denso style cap. The Calsonic style radiators and caps are found in the automatic tranny Proteges.

is there any benefit for the replacement radiator cap?

just wondering cause I have seen alot of people going to the 1.3 bar cap or something like that. What is the benefit? I know nothing about radiator caps.

Thanks

Yes, there is a benefit, although it is rather mild. The radiator caps you hear refered to as 1.3 bar (18.9 psi) hold far greater pressure than a stock radiator cap. Since greater pressure increases water's (or coolant/water mix) boiling point, a higher pressure cap will reduce the coolants tendency to boil. Which, in turn, will allow for better cooling.

I bought a mazdaspeed cap from ebay and it also didnt fit???
Which color? If it isn't green or pink you didn't get a MazdaSpeed radiator cap.

Here's the one MSP owners are gonna want. Auto P5 owners will need to get the Pink one which is getting very hard to find. You can get the one below from Cork Sport and I beieve Options Auto Saloon (www.optauto.com). The only place I found the Pink one was at Autobacs in Stanton, CA where I got L8R's.

I ordered the same GReddy cap from Options and they verified with GReddy that it will fit a MazdaSpeed Pro before they sent it.

I guess GReddy hasn't really looked into the MSP because it did not fit. I'm sending it back to Options today.

I ordered the S-type cap so I guess there is no GReddy alternative for our cars... too bad, I had a lot of GReddy products on my Prelude and I loved them.

call up awr and they can get you a 21psi cap for less then the mazdaspeed cap and it has a greater psi..

greater psi isnt that good. 1.3 is more then enough, with more pressure ur gonna have leaks .
