Radar Sensor and Smart Brake System Malfunction

I recently bought a 2018 CX-5 that has a radar sensor and smart brake system malfunction. The scan tool shows a Mazda SBS/MRCC Smart Brake Control/Mazda Radar Cruise Control U2300-56 (1/1) CM/current MIL continuous memory DTC code. When the code is erased the radar and smart brake system works with no issues. Upon turning the car off and on again the DTC code returns and the malfunctions appears on the dash. New battery and brakes have been installed and brake fluid is near the max line. Any suggestions/ideas on what the problem may be with these two system?

Was there an accident repair of the front end you were not aware of?
Could be the radar under the grille logo.
Guessing here. Both SBC and MRCC rely on the front radar.

resurrecting this. 2019 cx 5 has had the same warning lights but also with the problem of losing accelerating power. I pulled over, turned off the car, waited and restarted. It drove ok. Took it to a dealer who said it needed a new battery. then ir happened again. dealer said they couldnt see the codes since the warning lights had turned off. now its happened again andi have little confidence in the dealer. i understand the theories about the lights, but obviously theres more going on since its unable to accelerate when it happens. any thoughts? thanks.

If it's throwing a code serious enough to put it into "limp home mode", it most certainly should be storing that code in the ECU for someone to read!

Yeah we changed the battery and it still happens if we drive it for awhile. Dealer said they "couldn't see anything".
Now we're thinking of trading it in. So that leads me to a related question. Does anybody know if this problem was addressed in the updated 2025 version of the CX5? I know it's not a complete update so am concerned we'd get another lemon. I'm going to look at the CX30 as well. I'm willing to look at other brands but my wife really likes this car. Thanks.

We are having a sensor malfunction issue intermittently but it doesn't affect driveability. I don't read about these issues a lot on the forums so wonder how widespread it is. I had a 19 CX-5 for 20k miles and it never had the issue. I would think it unlikely you would encounter it again in a '25 unless you just have bad luck.

Wait please. Check codes. Mazda is weird. In my case had a cylinder misfire and car went into limp mode. All over the dash this exact error message started to appear. After digging deep I found out Mazda disables all these automatic brake features if within car there's some danger of either sudden acceleration / de-acceleration and it includes issues even with the ABS brake system / E brake system too. There's a thread where headlights' malfunction also caused this alert to pop up.
