Radar Detector

"These"?
Escort 9500i and V1 are not jammers.

Not sure if the plug on the Escort 9500i is the same as the 8500 but if it is they have a unit specically for laser jamming that intergrates with the 8500. They call it a laser diffuser. Its actually part of the SR1 Escort laser system but they sell it seperately for 8500 (x50). It will cost you 400 from them or 200 on ebay. I've had this unit for about 2-3 years and have travelled with out laser concern for since then.

The unit functions like a radar brain and is hard wired throughout your car. It has 3 diffusers one for your license plate and 2 for your headlights.

If the plugs are the same the 9500i may be the route to go.. The 8500 plug looks like a home telephone connector.

I have an escort passport 8500 x50 and it sucks. It must be broken because it usually doesn't go off until after I pass a cop. It really pisses me off and it is only 2 months old. Go with the valentine, I should have.

WOW must be bro cause mine goes off like 2 miles before I see them! lol Unless there playing laser tag :( Which Im sorry what anyone sayes if your radar picks up laser its too late! All you can do is slam on the brakes and pray! lol But Ka K X they come in fine and dandy! Saved me a few bad tickets :) (guitar)

Ive got my Escort 8500 x50 Hardwired to the cig lighter fuse in the fuse panel in the dash, you can use a normal phone cord to run it and just splice the wires take the fuse out and wrap it around the fuse and put the fuse back, also ground it somewhere. I have mine mounted up by the rear veiw mirrow and also went through the headliner, it looks like a mirror with a compass from behind the car and its in plan view for me , and you dont see any wires, oh and its red to match the cars interior lights :)

Question: Can I use the detector cord to splice it and hook it to the fuse panel?
It depends on the manufacturer and what voltage the detector wants. Some have a regulator in the plug.

if you get the Escort 8500 x50 then yes, or you can hook up a black telephone line and splice that in the same manor, thats what I did! Works great about 6 months and counting!

Anybody using a Whistler Fuzion? It fits in a 52mm gauge pod. I'm planning on installing one next to a boost gauge, once I see a "how-to" post on how to do that. Can anyone throw me a bone (link)? Thx.

Disregard- I got a R7.
