Ractive or Ebay intake?

I am trying to decide on an Intake for my P5. Although I would prefer to get a Injen CAI I just can't afford it, so I have been trying to decide between one of the ebay intakes or just go for the Ractive from the dealership. The ebay ones will cost me about $30-$40 less.

There are about 4 different intakes on eBay and although they look like they are all the same, I was hoping to get some feedback from people who purchased them from eBay.

1. From list below which one did you get?
2. Are you happy with it?
3. How was the install (fit)?
4. Would the Ractive be better since it is the one the Dealerships sell?

The truth is that i purchased an ebay intake...if you want to call it that...i find it to work quite well...but something you might want to ask the person selling their intake kit is what size is the diamater of the tubing...if it's 3" like mine..you will get better hp/tq at higher rpms...if you get one that 2.5" you will get better torque down low!!

Whish i knew to ask that question!!

There is basically no difference between the ractive and the ebay intake!!

Well no hp difference!!

Good luck

Chas

I have the e-bay one from "bomz" racing or something like that. I really like it, and think it's a great deal. Click on the link in my sig for some pics of it. Looks great, sounds great, better throttle response.:D I'd go for the e-bay one if I were you.

I also have an ebay intake, an OBX. It fits, sounds and looks great. I personally would get the #3 intake on your list. It's polished SS and the guy doesn't have too much bad feedback. That's pretty much the rule of thumb with ebay, if you're not sure which one to buy, check the sellers' feedback an go with the guy who's got the best.

the 200 difference is in fit quality and looks.. injen look really nice, aem is said to be better by some users, but in the end, they ALL do the same thing... +- a couple hp which you would never be able to tell unless you saw it on a dyno, and injen, AEM, ractive, and a couple of the ebay ones are all made from ALUMINUM.. NOT... NOT... NOT stainless steel.... go for the one you feel best with.

By the way, the reason i say fit quality is because some intakes might rub against your brake master cylinder.... so you will have to fool around with the bracket install... as far as i have seen, no one has had this problem with the Injen or the AEM.... oh yah, the AEM comes w/ a REAL KN filter... the red-dyed cotton is NOT a KN filter, so dont bother oiling it... it doesnt need it.. it is just a regular filter like the panel filter you have in your car.

I havn't had a problem with the e-bay intake touching the master cylinder. Just have to make sure it's on all the way. As far as fit and finish, click on the link in my sig. The intake looks great to me....

Those intakes are all the same. The finish may be different on various units, but the rest is identical. The fit tends to be problematic near the master brake cylinder, but it can be adjusted to avoid rubbing. Some people have reported problems with clearance at the front and have solved it by reversing the front tube orientation.

Just buy the cheapest one.

Based on the pictures of each, they all have the same crappy brackets that may or may not work for you.

You may want to read this and then this.
