well if the material you are using was a 300 grade of STAINLESS STEEL I would agree with you....

HOWEVER...saying that a chrome grill is never going to rust...well the grill that you just CUT to fit your MP3....the edges where you cut it are going to rust....you just broke the chrome plating...and the carbon steel is exposed.....

and I would be VERY surprised if the material was PROPERLY chromed as well.....or do you KNOW that the material was first coppered...then nickled...then chromed? .....

sorry.....but a CUT IT YOURSELF chrome grill isn't going to do the trick of eliminating the rusting problem.

:(

The grill is galvanized and recover with polish finish. I had the grill on my Mp3 for a month now and no rust on it. I'll take a pic from my mp3 to show it to you , maybe you'll be able to tell me the exact component of the grill. btw this aint a grilll you buy at a homehardware!

take care

even if its galvanized....once you CUT the material...on the edges you are exposing the bare metal....you would need to coat the exposed ends AT A MINIMUM or eventually it WILL rust.

now....if the material you used ISN'T steel? thats a diffrent matter.

and I have NEVER seen chrome EVER plated over galvanize.

well , i'm just telling you it's not rusting my friend , and i live up in north!!!

i'm just asking you guys....

email me for the pick. it is too big for here! :D

well....good luck with it then....my friend

for where I live I don't have a seasonal problem with rust/corrosion....

I have a YEAR ROUND problem....as I live on the coast....and the salt AIR never goes away.....

i feel you on the salt air problem nuke, seeing as i live right on the intercoastal waterway its kind of hard to avoid, just have to wash the ride a bunch, and don't drive on the beach lol.

yep....thats a fact....and there is one thing that my P-5 will NEVER do...and that is be taken on the beach....just NEVER going to happen.....I don't like our beaches here anyway......When I was a young man in highschool and college I went there EVERY weekend....you couldn't stop me, cept when it was raining....and then I went into the service....I got to spend a lot of time on the beaches of Florida, California, Hawiia, and Austrailia and it just showed me how HORRIBLE our beaches here in the upper coast of texas are.....the last time I went to the beach here was in 1984. To find a real nice beach here its a long drive down to Padre Island....and that is just a bit for to go to the beach. Oh well.....there ya go!

ahhh sorry about that...got a bit off topic. :D

I'll say this about the mesh grills. I got my mes from Lowes, and cut it my self. It has been on there since October. NO RUST AT ALL. Except for the wire I used to put it on. I'm not saying everyone should go get one. I'm gong to take mine off as a matter of fact. It's not because of rust though, I just don't like it anymore. I don't know where you people are getting your materials, but I believe mine is galvanized, and no rust at all.

Me either ben.....but IF you want a mesh grill...and you want it to truely last....find someone that has a mesh that LOOKS like you want..and made out of STAINLESS STEEL.....Then it will last and never rust....as long as its a 300 series stainless steel. not to mention...IF you wanted to take the time...you could polish it as well. :D
