I am seriously considering buying a better engine to handle the GT3071. Both of these businesses offers engine rebuild. Question is: Who's better?

Stage 2 (X- block) - $2,800.00
This custom built block feature special Pauter rods and Wiseco pistons. This will be great for those seeking power and reliability. The wrist pins are larger than the factor size, so the pistons and rods are designed larger. The ring package are also top quality and can hangle what ever boost you throw at it. The motor's rotating assembly are all balanced and blue printed with new bearings. 9:0:1 C R. Great for your PS protege, P5, MP3, 626, MX-6 and Probe.

Our short blocks come with:
CP Pistons
CP Gold Ring Package
Oliver Billet Rods
Toga bearings
ARP Main studs
ARP Head studs

We address the crank walk issuse by having a second thrust bearing machined and installed, we have the crank nitrated a second time, then it gets micro polished, line honed, square decked, bored, honed, plateaued, all oil passages chaffered, full block debur, and more! Their is a $500 core charge to be added

We do not simply bore & hone and put new rods in pistons in. Everything is done to spec and a full build sheet comes with our motors. The customer will know all tolerances and specs. Our motors are $2995, plus core. Freight Charges for this item are calculated based on weight.

The major diffrence I see is Mental Addiction can do a lower compression ratio and fixes the crank walk issue, but I haven't spoke to Racing Mazda about this either.

They THINK they fixed the crank walk issue. No one with a built MAM motor has had a failure because of crank walk, but there are very few MAM built motors out there. I'm not saying they didn't fix it, I'd like to think they did. But it's not proven.

I'd probaby say MAM, just because of how great Beau (usually) is to this community. You might wanna look into Wagner as well. I've heard good things about his company.

do a search on racing mazda, especially the header fiasco they were responsible for and you'll see that wagner or MAM is the way to go for a full rebuilt.

ive heard nothing but good things from MAM. I know Hellcat (Carl, white P5) is getting the MAM motor this summer. If your not getting this now you can wait and ask him how he likes his. I know discreetspeed (Maurice, Titanium MSP)has a bunch of stuff from MAM on his car and im thinkin he might have the rebuilt motor (im thinkin he blew his mazda one). PM them. they could give you good info.

go with the MPI,no money would be wasted on unneeded machining, and you can chose what pistons, and rods you want.you can also get whatever compression you want

and you will pay a little less.

your choice, why not trust him.is it because you don't know him.so what, you don't know most anyone you order parts from.

try talking to him on the phone,he knows his s***,and hasn't ****** anyone over.

Yeah, but that's assuming you trust Nick. I dont.

And thats like people saying they dont trust Matty...There is no reason to say things like this unless youre looking to start something...

why does every thread asking for opinions always get turned into a vendor war of bulls***. Thats why there is a vendor review section. As for blocks, racing mazda, mental addiction, wagner, mpi, and I think even ********** has one. which one is better would all be based on what your eventual goal is power wise. There is no need to get the most expensive block if (most built) if your goals are nominally low.

my goal is to get a engine strong enough to handle the GT3071 turbo with 20 to 25 psi of boost.

my vote goes to MAM for the built block.

I would not spend a dime with Racing Mazda.

Yeah, I guess you're right. Although I've talked to a number of people who don't think he's trustworthy. But I regress, I shoudln't have said it because I've never done business with him and I dont't know him.

My vote would still be MAM or Wagner, but again, that's just because I havn't heard good things about MPI and RM, but I could be wrong. Just call both of them and ask whatever question you wanna ask, get your answers straight from the horses mouth, not from a bunch of random guys on an internet forum.

That project is on hold at the moment while I fight with Mazda to fix my car under warranty. I'll still get the built block, it just might be towards the end of summer or a little later.

I would tell you to choose between Nick @ Mpi or Beau@ Mam . WHy don't you do yourself a favor, give them both a call and see what they can offer you and then make your decision.

Don't need to listen to what people have to say or bicker about vendors on this forum.
