If the swaybar doesnt CLUNK like the rear, And I have the squeeking problem, which I think is struts, How do you know if the bushings are bad in the front? Will it eventually start to clunk? OR will the handling just get worse?

I just had mazda order new parts for the rear cluck on friday, but could not get the front to do anything wrong?

THANKS

fronts will just squeak. Bushings and struts might squeak when cold. I have never had any clunk in the front. Seems the bushings fit correctly on the front sway bar. The struts all seem to have the same problem, they squeak due to no grease or lube on them, maybe it washes away after time. When in the rain they don't squeak because their wet. It's not uncommon for bushings to squeak on high end setups like ours. Struts shouldn't be doing it though, not to the extreme that I used to hear mine do it.

As far as I know, there's no performance degredation due to any problem with the front. The back is the only problem.

I've read somewhere on this board that the front bushings are polyurethane (which is good) while the back are rubber (which is bad). My front suspension squeaks when its cold as well. I do think it is the bushings though. At least they don't give up after a couple of weeks and start clunking :).

hey,
i have an '03 MSP
i had the squeal too in my front end when cold. to me, it did sound like a strut/spring problems. i just brought it to the dealer where they found the FRONT BUSHINGS worn out.
hopefully they wont become the problem that the rears did you you guys, which i just had replaced with the -E- bushings.

Wow....someone used the search feature and brought this thread back from the dead :)

Luckily the dealer is taking care of the issue for you. Good Luck! We'll see if these E bushings are any better than the rest of them.

i greased my struts up while i was lowering my car.. and i havent heard a squeak since...

or a clunk for that matter....

there's two squeak. one is strut based. Grease it...gone for a while. This can happen in both front and rear.

the other is not really a squeak, more of a crunchy sound, like driving over a coke can. This is the bushings up front. This also happens due to coldness. Replace bushings, seems to go away for a while, then returns. Are the bushings actually "bad"...no. They just just squeak. you should not get a clunk in the front at all. That's just weird

mine makes a sound like well rubber rubbing against metal when it gets cold outside, after driving a bit it quits (im assuming the friction warms the bushings and they stop sqeaking) so i'll wait till it gets warm again ( im in oklahoma shouldn't be to long) and see if it sqeaks then. besides the fact that i plan on getting new swats, springs, and possibly struts before the new years.
