questions about a 6

Cept the 6sp will still be about 100 lbs heavier...and about 15 WHP in the hole. But at least the gearing will be alot better! (Better mileage to boot).

Biggest problem with the MTX's is the 5th gear overdrive isn't really...if your cruising along at 75...your over 3000 rpm =/.

I know what you mean, but I actually consider the moderately high RPM's on the highway to be a good thing for this car. The V6 is still very quiet running at 3000rpm, and it gives you a quick boost when you step on the gas to pass someone. Since you get the most HP, torque from this engine at very high RPM's, if you were cruising at 75MPH at only 2000RPM the engine would be alot less responsive.

The absolute best thing about the V6 I think is that there's plenty of power to pass on the highway. As we all know it's not the greatest engine "off the line" but it makes up for it when you go to pass someone who is already cruising along at 70MPH.

Blah, forget automatic, manual tranny all the way. Shifting is an art.

I'm in no mood for art during rush hour, ATX rules in traffic :). crossbow, the 6sp is supposed to be more reliable right?

6 sp is supposed to be much stronger, have superior gearing, and even get better mileage then the 6s MTX. I'd definitely wait for it if you have to get an ATX.

i would wait till the 05 hits the showroom floors.
P.S. don't buy the 6I! go for the V6
i was told by a local Mazda mechanic that they have had problems with that engine for years now. They had it in one of their small SUV's too. Told me the 4cyl was worthless.

Why do you people listen to your dealerships...man if your mechanic said that, I would NEVER GO THERE AGAIN.

The 2.3 Liter L3 is a completely new engine. Fill your brain with knowledge, instead of dealership garbage.

Of the two variants, the 6i MTX is the one thats being raced. (Drag Racing, SCCA World Challenge) The 6i MTX is the one thats being used as a turbocharged platform. The 6i MTX is the one which already has an AWD application in europe.

All of Japans aftermarket is for the 6i. The 6i is debately the better of the two available models, especially as far as cornering is involved. Its even been seen beating Evo's and Sti's at the local autocross tracks :).

Ya the 6i rocks watchin that (bow) drag car run a 8.3 (humpleg) 1/4 mile was awesome. And isnt the 4cylinder in the tribute the same one in the escape just like the duratec? I have never heard of any problems with a 4cylinder escape but thats just me

I honestly would get a 6i GT MTX for my next car but thatn I will want to mod it like crazy thus spending way too much money. But seriously I prefer the 6i.

So i am going to china this weekend and when i come back on the 20th of aug, i was going to head on over to mazda and pick me up a atx 6s. Especially cause they have this 1500 cash back thing going on. NOw you folks are telling me i should wait for the 05 atx to come out. My car is almost on its last leg.. (well not really) But i guess since they are changing the packages, i can probably trim some of the s*** off i dont want.. Getting the price down a bit.
