Question of autosport shifting

Go for it...

how about i slow down alittle and then shift? like i go all the way to 4000rpms and then shift to 2nd gear at 3500rpms. would that be okay?
I use the Manny mode almost exclusively. I shift from 1 to 2 @ about 6000 rpm or about 30-35 mph, 2-3 again at 6000rpm or about 60-65 mph, 3-4 at AGAIN 6000rpm or 90-95 mph, AND I NEVER LIFT MY FOOT FROM THE THROTTLE! When I want to pass (in the city) I will shift from 4 to 2 wait a second for the tranny to catch up and then I floor it. I have had no problems (sounds, hesitations etc.) with doing this.

Drive it like you stole it....then again drive it like you want to, it's your car.

You don't get very good gas mileage, do you? (lol2)

Not usually...

Now, I don't always drive like that LOL. I did get 400+ miles to a tank going to Boston, but my dad was in the passenger seat and my mom was following us. Came back alone yesterday 330 miles to a tank but my 8 hr ride was only 7 hr. LOL.

Disclaimer: If you drive like this you will spend a lot of money in gas. LOL

if your really that concerned about how cool it will sound go get you one of those fack b.o.v. sirens and go to town.

drove my cousin's p5 autoshift... don't like it at all. it is slow on the shifting and doesn't feel that good.

edit: from what i remember, it will shift for you if you try to get past redline.

i know what you mean. it seems slow. but its better than having it change on you while you take a corner.

my mazda3 wont shift at redline. but it will downshift on its own when i punch it, i like that (humpleg)

Just curious, but does the gear hold at redline and beyond or does it shift automatically like the Audi's?

Mine doesn't automatically shift at redline, which I found out when my hand slipped off the shifter right when I was supposed to shift from 1st to 2nd. (hand) I ended up pushing it over 7200+ RPM before I adjusted and hit the shifter.

It does, however, automatically downshift to 1st when I come to a stop.

i don't know if yo guys can help me but my tranny seem not to sensitivively shify up anymore i have to nodge it up a few times before it can shift up but when shifting down it smooth as silk. Any one have this experience, my automatic is still working but the auto-tranny seems to be broken or something what can i do to shift it up smooth like before?

If it's still under warranty take it to get checked out by the dealer.

what are the speeds you are traveling when trying to upshift. Just trying to make shure you aren't trying to shift to 3rd or 4th to prematurely. 4th gear is almost impossible under 15-26ish in M mode. Is your warenty up cause it's past the milage or cause the dealership said it is?

When I drove with sport mode, I would keep my foot on the gas when I downshifted, when I upshifted it doesnt really matter.

I usualy feathered the gas on downshifts so it wouldn't nosedive before I could find an opening in traffic. Also note car won't let you downshift to 1st if you are going too fast. Usualy at 65 if you needed 1st then you need to stop racing all together.
