Question for the 3 owners with Xenon

My mom is STILL looking for a new car, and the 3 is still on the list. But we went test driving cars last night, but couldn't get to Mazda in time. We chose last night because it was raining. Why go when its raining? Because they you can see how the headlights perform.

Most cars have SUCK-ASS headlights. VW's are better, but still pretty crappy. We test drove a Passat and you could bairly see the road. So, my question is how are your Xenon's at night? Particularly, how are they in the rain? This is a big selling point and hopefully we'll be able to drive one night, but we'll have to see when we get a change. I want people's opinions first though.

The xenon lights are amazing at night on the 3. The only time I get to drive my wife's is usually at night when we go out, but they are extremely bright, even without the brights on. You can also adjust the height of the lights inside the car with the adjustment button. They are really worth the price. I promise to have pictures for you guys soon of our new 3s.

Red, black leather, 2.3, navigation, sunroof, 6cd, xenon, automatic, 17" wheels, (soon to be 18")

I'm with you on the Xenons. They are really good. I had no idea how much I'd like them until we actually tried them. The quality and whiteness of the light is great. It covers far out ahead of you and to the side. Plus, there is an internal switch to change the level of the headlights. Great little touch.

I love the xenons, they are amazing, nice distance, and the level switch for the lights is nice, for if your driving in fog you can adjust the lights to go more on the ground and not blinde you with the reflection of the fog, but i drove in the rain this last weekend, and the lights still were amazing, i have a buddy who just got a saab and did NOT get the xenon and he saw mine and is regreting it so bad, just my .02, late
shag (hippy)

Thanks guys! This is the exact kind of reviews I need! The Xenon's are definetly a plus, since you cannot buy HID conversions anymore(legally) and all of the other cars do not have Xenon lights.

Get them. I live in San Diego, so I don't drive in rain much, but xenon lights are better looking, and the visibility is incredible. There throw is so much wider, further, and brighter, I won't buy a car without them.

I have a tough time driving with regular halogens now. After the Acura Xenons and now the Mazda's I don't think I would want to go back. What's really cool is when it's wet the reflectors on the road are even more visible.

If you bought the 3 but you thought you had the Xenon package but you didnt... how much would it cost to get installed by the dealer?

probably a lot since you dont get a trade-in for your old headlights (at least thats what i assume)... the xenon package takes into account that the factory never used the reg headlights... thus making it cheaper than getting it done after the fact..

wet surface is like an mirror, lights will be reflected forwards even xenon hid cars will have that. in fact, yellow lights will perform better in the rain..
but the intensity and brightness of the hid bulb will still outperform halogenes
