Question for people w FMIC

My boost temps are generally around 120-125 or so when cruising around on a hot day, down to 100 or so when I'm on the throttle...I'd take that second number with a large grain of salt though...I'm also running a meth/water injection kit so that's not going to be normal.

IAT is near ambient, unless I am at a dead stop for a while. BAT is anywhere from the teens to 150+, depending on speed and weather conditions. The good part is, the car doesn't fall on its face at 140+* like it did on the stock TMIC.

yeah like others have said it varies, I've seen it get as high as 150 if I've been stopped for a while in traffic. The benefit of a FMIC is not actually getting lower BAT's(which will most likely happen anyway) but it's ability to cool off much faster than the TMIC. I've had it drop 30 degrees in only a couple of seconds while boosting. Believe it not, my BAT's have actually been lower than my IAT's because I left it idling for about 15 minutes with the AC on. Coolness from the radiator I guess.

I'm debating of whether to get a FMIC or aftermarket TMIC. I rarely go to the track, so I'm not dying to get a FMIC, but everyone I talk to rave on about FMIC. I just want to gain additional power and HP up top.

I would imagine that with a FMIC, since there's more piping involved, that there would be an addtional turbo lag, vs TMIC has less piping.

With this pinner turbo you have to really force the issue to get any lag at all, even with FMIC piping. It's really not a significant concern. Don't put a Kenworth core on there and you should be fine.

You can get a fmic cheaper than a TMIC these days. There's virtually no lag if you do the right setup as far as piping kit and core goes.

I'll be willing to sell my Perrin FMIC with piping an BOV for mazdaspeed protege for $850! PM me if anyone intersted

^^ wrong forum buddy xD I love my COBB FMIC, have had one on the car since Oct. '09 and it's great. Looks great, my IATs range from whatever ambient is to about 20-30* higher when sitting. Boost temps fall a good amount from there, when run through my FMIC, great investment and as states, FMICs are now able to be found competitively if not cheaper priced than aftermarket TMICs, just go FMIC! The look of it alone when looking at your car should sell you on the idea! lol
