Are the + and - symbols supposed to light up like the rest of gear selections on the shifter? I never really payed attention to it, since I never actually look down there all that often, yet tonight when I was out driving, I noticed that the P, R, N, and D gears all light up red, yet the + and - don't. If they are supposed to be lighting up, I guess I'll be making a trip to my dealer. Thanks in advance.

nope...

Yeah I noticed this early on. They don't light up. I agree that it would be kinda nice, but its no biggie. On a second note, all you guys with the sport AT, what kinda gas milage have you been getting? Also, how many miles do you have on it so far? I am trying to build up some comparisons to my crappy gas milage stats.
Thanks,
Dayill.

Mileage

I have observed my Milage has not been good so far, averaging about 22 mpg :(

I have the sport auto also. I only have 400 miles on my car sor far and I am on only my second tank. I am hoping it will get much better. Problem is I drive almost exclusivlely short ( less than 10 mi) trips and on surface streets, not highway. Oh well, it is better than my old GMC Jimmy that was getting 12 mpg!:o

I'd say my gas mileage ranges from 22mpg to 23.5mpg. I have 1989 miles so far. I also drive fairly hard. I usually switch to manual and red line her at least once a day. I also down shift on turns a bit. I just can't resist... the car is too much fun to drive. I know a lot of us wish we had more power, and I'll agree to that in some instances. For example, on a drag our car is toast... but on twisty roads, the car is awesome.

I find this very ironic. I have been curious about this for quite some time now. I was involved in a wreck exactly one month after I bought my Protege5. It's all fixed now and I don't notice anything different at all. It's still a blast to drive and I love every minute of it, other than, of course, wanting more power. And I noticed that the + and - do not light up. So I kept wondering if the body shop did something when fixing my car and caused it to go out. But I guess it never lit up anyway, now that you mentioned it. And when it comes to gas mileage, it's horrible, ranging from 21 mpg to 23 mpg. I have almost 4,000 miles on my car now. I did a whole tank not using the manual and a whole tank using the manual. I did notice the manual actually used just a little more gas than just letting the automatic do the work. It's not a big difference, but at least a noticeable one. I just started a thread about gas brand and mileage so check it out.
