Question about Rusting Internals after blown head gasket

I have had many complications with removing my head after I blew the headgasket a few weeks ago, and there is quite a bit of water/oil in cylinder 3. Can this rust the piston/sleeve/piston rings? If so, then I am sure it is already rusted, but I want to know if I should expect to buy a new set of rings or pistons for my rebuild.

sorry for the off-topic, but that black 97 probe must be a nice sleeper car. Looks completely stockish, then you open the hood.lol. I don't know if rusting would be an immediate problem as the water is mixed with oil, which would help prevent the rusting. I wouldn't let it sit for too long without getting the water and s*** outta there though. good luck on the rebuild

how many KMs / miles on the engine? Regardless..if you are doing a rebuild it is advisable that you change out the rings and pistons while you can.

Supposedly there was a motor swapped in with 23,000 miles on it last year. So a safe and conservative number would be around 55,000 miles. (88,000km)
