question about my boost gauge

hey guys, i just installed my apex'i electronic boost gauge (EL1) and ran into a couple things that made me a little concerned.

1) after installation, when i first started up my car, after giving it some throttle, the car's rpm would fall very very slowly, and settle around 2800-3000 rpm. it wouldn't go lower, so i just turned the car off, and the engine felt really unstable/shaky turning off. i tried a couple more times, and with each successive push of the throttle, the "idle" rpm slowly lowered itself until it hit around 700 (normal). now it runs fine, but i'm a little worried why the car did that for the first few starts.

2) i dont' know if anyone else has an apex'i boost gauge, but it came with an air filter. is there a specific direction it's supposed to face? i just stuck it on (i cut the provided vacuum host and fit the air filter between them).

3) the gauge reads me boosting around 0.59-0.6 bar peak, which i found out is around 8.7 psi according to google calculator. doesn't the msp boost 6.5psi (0.44 bar) with a peak of 7psi? why is it boosting so high? /me scared

thanks guys, oh and by the way, in case it helps diagnose the problem, i have an injen CAI and an HKS turbo timer too.

on your rpm's in the 2800 - 3000, did your run it before you cranked it that time. Mine will do that too when I haven't ran it for a good while.

when my engine is heating up in the morn (you know after sitting all night) it will rest high on the rpm's untill its up to normal running temps. Also did you read the instructions? I dont have that kit so I dont know if the apexi instrutions tell you which direction to face that filter. I would asume it would want to be placed so that the flow of air would get filtered b4 the gauge. Also make sure that the apexi doesnt have a set amount of boost from factory.. Just try and trun it down a bit. You should be golden after that.

bump..
