Question about gauge lighting

:
MSP & MS3
All the videos on youtube show reddish/orange backlighting... yet, when I testdrove an MS3 the other day, it had some weird blue tint. does anyone know what's what?

They change to blue when the headlights are on. The bright orange is so you can read them during the day.

Thats right..... they also show blue when you shut the car off and open the door. Pretty pimp imo

I love the blue tint around the guages. The only thing I don't like is that the blue is a lot brighter at the top of the ring than at the bottom. I wish the blue was a little brighter all the way around.

Explain what?

I can see the blue led tint at the top of the spedo

He was running at night, with the headlights on, but used the "daytime" brightness setting for the gauges (there is a button for this)

u can make the orange tint brighter at night, the blue is not so noticable especially through a camera posted on youtube

I"m sure you could pull the blue LEDs if they really bothered you that much. I am the exact opposite though, I absolutely love them

Hum... if you hit the dim button at night it switches from blue to orange... not sure why you would want to but for those who dont like the blue there you go....

I saw a very faint hint of it... but thought that, since it was not even close to as bright as the car I testdrove, that it might be something else.

so let me get this straight.... by hitting the dim button the blue dissapears? is the reddish/orange still bright?

as crazy as this might sound... this whole blueish lighting thing is a partial dealbreaker. I hate it on the VWs and I didn't like it much on the MS3 I testdrove either. My MSP is about as good as it gets when it comes to interior lighthing... so I'd hate to take a step backwards.

I'll have to go back at night and try this dimming thing out.

well you can control the dimming with a knob on the left of the steering wheel, which controls the tint of blue along with the value of the center console and the radio if you still have the stocker in. the knobs by the gauges controls the orange for the gauges, nothing more other than mileage readings

Yes you push the dim button and it switches from blue to red.. you turn the dim button and it controls the intensity...red can be very bright but you can turn it down at night...

Note that the blue is only on the instrument cluster (the radio, a/c display in center is always red) and the knobs background light is always red as well....
