Question about exhaust shops and legality

Im having a very hard time finding a shop to do things like cat deletes. None of them will do it because its illegal... any tips? =/

For what car? You are going to have to buy a test pipe and/or complete exhaust system and do it yourself. There are huge fines for any shop that removes emissions equipment. Don't even waste any more of your time searching because you won't find one.

Test pipe will certainly effect emissions. It's illegal to modify a functioning OBD2 system in every state, fyi.

Honestly, if you're doing a test pipe on an MS6 you really should just do it yourself. The few tools that you will need are relatively cheap. You'll just have to find a way to elevate the front of the car (safely).

If you cant do it yourself, there are ways to get this done...just need to find a place to do it. Your probably going to name brand retail places like Midas, etc... Go to the shady part of town, where the shops look more like chop shops. Expect to pay more for this.

If you want to delete your cat, just get a test pipe. So when the time comes for emissions test on your car just remove the test pipe and throw your cats back on, then vice versa after you pass. OR.. you can move somewhere, where emissions ar enot a big issue...

You need to find a small speed shop that specializes in "drag" or "offroad", bet no problems there. Or make friends with a mechanic.

Go to your nearest 1/4 mile track and I bet you find something there.

Catless or not

Well it depends. I know that some shops won't remove cats legally, and some techs still work after hours on private projects. Hope you know this person well or it can come back to bite you hard.

Around here we have had problems with people stealing the cats off of cars and SUVs. Hint hint...

Buy the test pipe from SLS or something, and you can have a shope do it most of the time. If they don't see a cat initially they will usually also even put a pipe in place of it, or install what you hand them.

This might work with most shops unless you're in California, or anoth state that uses the California standard.

If you order the test pipe from SLS tell Eric that Jon with the Speed 6 sent ya.
