it's my first big purchase ever....just wondering if it is a good/decent buy...

and also, is it truly high-definition? i hear there is more than one kind of HD..... (poke) could someone be kind enough to explain the differences and what mine has?

EDIT: one more question....i bought the component cables for my xbox so i could get 420i and 720i "i think those are the numbers" digital pictures....does my tv support that?

fine print, it's HD-READY not HD. meaning when the networks finally switch youll have to purchase an adapter.

so i can't see dvds/play xbox in high-def? i wasn't too worried about watching tv in HD cuz there aren't that many channels anyway...

sorry mang, but if i was you, i would've bought a panasonic hd plasma for alil bit more.

well this one after all was said and done came out to 1,600 with the $150 for 4 year warranty and taxes....so it was the top of the mountain for me pricewise.

You'll be able to play Xbox in HD so long as you have the proper cables. Let me know how you like this one, I've been considering getting the 26" version. Been meaning to go to Bestbuy to check them out in person.

well since i got the 4 year extended warranty, i'm not real worried about the brand...cuz if i get the "ghost" images on the tv....i can get it fixed.

The xbox is awesome...i went through all my games and played Ninja Gaiden for hours (image looks sweet in HD...colors are da sh!t) (thumb). And if you have a high-end pc...you'll really appreciate the monitor plug-ins

my only complaint so far is the sound....the speakers do not have enough "oomph" for my tastes....so plan on getting some speakers too.

I'm trying to talk myself out of buying one til they drop in price a bit more. But the 360 is making me really reconsider it.

noooooooo....all it means is that it doesn't have a HD tuner built into it, so that he needs to get a High def box from either his cable or sattelite company if he wants to watch hi def tv.

Nice I have the 27 inch Westinghouse from Best Buy.

I just bought the 27" Insignia HDtv about a month ago, and I love it. I called my friend who repairs TVs and such to ask if it was OK to buy. He said that it was basicly a RCA unit reboxed and that he owned three different Insignia monitors and loved them all. I stopped by his house last week, and sure as s***, he had three of them around the house all in their HD glory.

ONE LAST QUESTION: how common is "image-burn" on plasma tvs? is it expensive to repair?

new plasma's really don't have this problem

really? what's the difference between the new ones and old ones? i don't know much about it, but i figure as long as i don't pause my xbox for a whole day i'm in the clear..right?
