Pulling the trigger on a CX-9

Just joined because I am planning on pulling the trigger on a CX-9 but wanted your opinion. I am looking at a new 2011 (last one on the lot) Grand Touring with Nav, power lift gate, rear entertainment system and few other extras. I don't really care about the Navigation after everything I have read but don't have a choice. The price is $31,988, so should I go for the 2011 GT or get a 2012 Touring without all the extras at a price that is similar?

umm, GT. for that price, you can't go wrong. That is a really good price, not unheard of, but pretty darn good. GT gets you the Xenon lamps and fog lamps. Touring only has halogen lamps with no fogs. GT just has alot to offer over touring. Another big difference is the low profile tires (50 series) and 20" wheels, which is just more pleasurable to drive over the 18" squishy tires. Pull the trigger on the GT

I would definitely go for the 2011 GT with all of the options over the 2012 without. If they are both brand new and will have the same warranty coming off the lot, you gotta go GT. The only draw back would be if I hated the color combo on the 2011. I do not think any option combo would be worth driving a car that I did not like the look of.

The nav system is terrible, but a lot of the other options are well worth going a year older. The lift gate is great when your hands are full of kids and or groceries. The RES is a godsend on long trips with kids too.

I use my trusty Garmin when I really need a nav system and only use the factory nav when I have no other choice.

It's not terrible, its just outdated and locks you out while in motion for new destination input. The touchscreen controls for radio/audio are pretty nice to have as well, so its not "terrible" i wouldn't say.

Get the 2011, that is an awesome price and there is not that much difference between the 2 years. I have 19,000 miles on my 2011 and just love driving it. So far I have no issues to speak of. The nav system is outdated but for me it is still worth it to have it as OEM and not to have to deal with an external device.

Great price for a loaded GT. I drove several Tourings and GTs and to me the biggest advantage the GT has is the Xenon headlights. I live in the mountains and good lighting is a must. Is it AWD or FWD? Does it have Tow Prep? Tow Prep is good even if you don't plan on towing. It gives you the over sized radiator and the transmission cooler.

The NAV is nothing to write home about. I played around with it just to get familiar but don't even use it. I have a Garmin and an iphone for navigation. My dealer gave me an additional $1600. off since I didn't want it and they didn't want to hassle with removing it so I got it for no charge.

Well I did it! Picked up a new 2011 GT, liquid silver, with Nav, rear entertainment, chrome bumper step plate, roof rack, pwr lift gate, and tow prep for $31,688. I will post pics soon and thank you for the warm welcome to the forum.
