Chicago WILL lose the World Series. AL is a joke.

No the Texans are a joke. This is going to be great because I have a ton of family in Houston. The astros do not have a prayer against the White Sox pitching. The AL was the dominant league this year and the NL sucked. It sucked so bad that Houston won the pendant. Figure that one out when the astros where 15-16 games under .500 in the beginning of the season. It will be a great pitching series and a fun one at that to watch.

P.S. Thanks Houston for eliminating the cards. I couldn't except a white sox and cardinals series. That would have been torture.

congrats to astros fans.

cardinals = the new braves

i cant wait for the series to start. hopefully the sox can continue playing the way they have. this city NEEDS this so bad. people are going nuts. series tickets are outrageously priced and people are buying tickets in houston and flying there to see the sox. i bet there wont be more than a handful of astros fans at the cell, while there will be hundreds of sox fans at minute maid park.

as i said before, anything can happen but i like our chances. GO SOX!!!

btw, series tix sold out in 18 minutes for all 4 homes games. they also said that white sox tickets are selling 12X faster than than red sox tickets did last year. unbelievable. i dont think fans in any other city can comprehend what is going on here right now.

Never said the Texans weren't a joke :)

Actually the 15-16 record was 15-30 buddy. Even our Houston Chronicle counted us out at one point........Consider us an underdog, it just feeds the fire. We have been the best team in Baseball for the last few months, and thats not about to change.

I love both cities.....and i think its wonderful it has come to this, we both need the series (thumb)

If only you could see whats happening over here in Houston......believe me, whats going on over there is happening here.

now being a college student i have realized that looking at a statistic like "they sold 12X faster in another city" is complete nonsense. you must have never thought about the fact that there are 2,896,016 in chicago and only 589,141 in boston. so obviously, they WILL sell out faster. you gotta think man. those numbers are according to 2000 US census of the gov website btw

a couple things....

First off, congrats to the Astros and Oswalt.

Houston has been the hottest team in baseball. There's obviously something to be said for winning the wild card and having a successful post-season run. Their record in April has nothing to with that.

The World Series should be a battle of pitching, and right now, you have to like Chicago as their starters will be rested and the rotation will be setup exactly how they want it.

Now, regarding the Cardinals. I doubt they are the new Braves. Props to Houston's pitching, but our bats went silent in the NLCS just like they did last year in the WS. Also, we arguably had the best defense in the league and that was not shown in this series.

There was also a botched call in the 5th inning last night when Molina was called out @ 2nd. This could have been a game changing inning as it should have been bases loaded, no outs, but instead was 1st & 3rd, 1 out. We got a sac fly to score the runner @ 3rd and that was it.

Most importantly, the Cardinals have been plagued with injuries to their lineup this year. We were without our all star 3b in Rolen, although Nunez proved to be a worthy replacement and then was out for 2 games this series as well. The 3rd string replacement, Luna, made an error in game 3 which directly resulted in a run and guess how many runs the Astros won that game by. Larry Walker was not Larry Walker this year. Reggie Sanders' injury also proved to be a huge blow as he was the hottest bat we had prior to the near concussion.

I'm not whining about any of this, just pointing out facts. This St. Louis team will recover and continue playing winning baseball.

next year, we'll have a brand new Busch Stadium to get excited about as well. I'm glad Pujols won us game 5 and allowed me to get some closure and say goodbye to an old friend as it was the final game @ old Busch. 1000's of Cardinal fans stayed long after the game to take it all in and several players came back on the field and they received plenty of love from the faithful. It was a bittersweet moment saying goodbye to the only stadium I've even known....

Good luck to the White Sox & the Astros!!!! We'll see you next year...
