Protege5 hesitation

I was wondering if any one could help me out. Installed under my hood is the AEM short ram and the underdrive pulley from unorthodox. I have found that my car seems to be hesitating when i first accelerate and then kicks in after a few seconds. Does anyone know what could be wrong?

I have the same problem when I installed my AEM SRI. Somebody told me because the intake pipe is too short. A short ram will help you a lot at high rpm like 3000+ but it will take away some low low end torque.

For city driving, low end torque is more important...

that's impressive list of mods pickledoe. Got any images of the inside and out?

I have a Megan's Racing SRI..and have the same problem!

yes, thanks for the input, i took the car to the dealer and they said the diagnostics showed that there was not enough air going to the engine. Also, i will try to get some pics of my car on the net. Thanks again everyone, if you have anything else to add, please do

Has anyone been able to pin-point this to the SRI? I am thinkin' of buying AEMs SRI but don't want to loose any low end torque.

that kinda bites...that discourages me from an SRI.

Does anybody know how the Injen CAI affects low end?

I have the AEM on my MP3. No bogging here. I love it. Sounds great, and definitely notice gains after the VICS opens up (~4500 RPM).

I have the Injen, and don't get any bogging. Could be due to turbulence, if the pipe is a tad too large, too. But 2.5" pipe, and a long runner to the fender makes for an actual slight increase in low end torque, whereas when I had an SRI, or the equivilant thereof, I got the slow start, too... Also, are you pegging the gas down, or easing onto it? Easing onto it actually makes the car react faster, because if you jump the gas, you'll end up dumping in more gas than the engine needs, as the engine goes into open loop quickly, thereby bogging it down.

I have the AEM SRI on my MP5, no bogging or hesitation but i did
felt a little loss of low end torque but who cares I am always up above 4k RPM anyway....

same thing here when i had my ractive SRI on... when you take off your air box, you gotta take out the front plastic parts, that's where the air flow from outside into the box.. it's like cutting direct flow of fresh air..

solution: ghetto mod, duct tubes... home depot, under $10-20 is more then enough..

so air would go directly from under the car to your filter... it's all good :D also cools the engine..

if you guys are not running with an upgraded ecu you will need to run your stock air flow meters and premium fuel. i forgot to plug the wires back in to my air flow meter and had extreme power loss after installing my own sri using the standard pipe then the air flow meter then over that i used a rubber expander to a piece of 3" stainless then fitted my pod above the hole in front of the wheel arch. but then when i plugged the wires back in ...WHOA!!!!
