Protege Track Day, anyone?

My bad, i meant kevin. i finally got ahold of scott today so I do not need any people YET. Tell whoever wants to go that i will let them know for sure tomorrow if its a yes or no.
 
holly cap!!! i want to go..you MUST do this again in a few months, i know i can get at least 6 cars down from KY...!!!!
 
wow...from KY! Cory has been running around like a maniac...we should sit down and get this more organized next time. Look for pics from this event...should be good!
 
DAAMMMM IT!!! i never saw anything about this, till now.. i need some track time with this new P5, and at that price, make it two days!!! lol..!! im down for your next event!!!

well... i put the word out around here.. and just like everyone else... they all say HELL YEAH when it's on paper... but noone will cough up the cash... i'll keep ya posted
 
dude im total game, other than at the end of june 27-29 i think, ill be in colorado for the pikes peak hill climb, but that can be skipped for some good track time, and lots of fun!!!
 
I just got a call from someone from tamparacing.com that is a definate so long as a space is open, and he may also have a friend that is interested...


I need to know by 8pm tonight whether i can get the one guy in, and possibly his friend.
 
As of right now all 21 positions are filled. Do let him know that I am renting the track in April also if he would like to race then.
 
03Speed, are you going to post details about the event next week so some of us out-of-towners can prepare before we get there. My friend is coming up to help as well, he's bringing his 01 ES w/ the custom widebody kit (under construction). It's about half built and he's trying to finish the body work by the 6th. We'll be up there on Friday night.

Yes, helmets are requred. If you donot have a helmet, try and borrow a motorcycle helmet from someone; if not I have a helmet you can use.

Gainesville Raceway Information



WTF Motorsports will be holding track days at GIR on a regular basis. Once the date for the event is announced payment must be made PROMPTLY to the designated Pay Pal account. Roster spots will be filled on a first-come first-serve basis. Due to our new relationship with GIR and the forthcoming events no security deposit is required to hold the track, but payment in full must be made 14 days prior to the event. We will send out an email notifying everyone of the next event and we will post the roster and available spots on the site. If you would like to be added to the mailing list for one of our events please email Cbloom40@earthlink.net . General cost for day is $100.00 which will include lunch.


General Info

Schedule:

Gates open 7:30
Registration:7:30-9:00
Drivers Meeting 8:45-9:00

First Session: 9:00
Lunch 12:00-12:45
Track Closes: 5:00

Late Fee: a late fee of $10 will be charged if you show up after 9:00am. Due to the layout of the course all runs must cease to allow a car onto the road course facility. Arriving late will disrupt the group and take away valuable time for the drivers.


Sessions:
Cars will be sent out in groups of 3 spaced 20 seconds apart. Each group will have 1 warm-up lap and 1 cool-down laps. Sessions will run 10-12 minutes beginning at the conclusion of the warm-up lap. There is ABSOLUTELY NO PASSING ALLOWED. If you find yourself holding up the car behind you give the pit in signal and turn into the pit area. We will re-stage you and send you back on the course behind the quicker cars in your group. Do not speed through the paddock area in and effort to rush back on the track.


REQUIRED DRIVING APPAREL:

Helmets:
All drivers must have a Helmet with either a SA or M rating. Helmets are mandatory. I encourage everyone to bring a spare helmet if you have one just in case we need to provide a loaner.

Clothing:
We also recommend that you wear clothing that fully covers your arms and legs. It is also a good idea to wear sneaker type non-slip shoes that lace tight. NO SANDALS or HIGH HEELS. The typical driver is dressed in jeans or Dockers, long sleeved t-shirt or pullover, cotton socks and tennis shoes. 100% cotton sweatshirts and poplin jackets are great for the cool weather


(Seatbelts are required and all drivers must drive with the windows open. Windshields must be clean (bring Windex and paper towels)

Technical Check list:



Brake Fluid:

I encourage everyone to have their brake fluid flushed by a professional and replaced with a high-temp DOT fluid such as Motul 600 or ATE Super Blue. This course is short, but feedback from drivers who ran this layout recently claim that it is very tough on brakes and you will experience fade. If your pedal starts to get spongy and you are running on stock DOT fluid we recommend you pull into the pits for the safety of yourself and others.

Brake Pads:

Inspect your pads for proper pad thickness. If your pads are low this may be a good opportunity to replace them with a high temp compound. Your day will be more enjoyable if your brakes hold up.

Vital Engine Fluids:

Oil, Coolant and Brake Fluid should all be checked prior to the event. Make sure all of your levels are topped off prior to arriving at the track and you may want to bring some extra fluids just incase.

Gas: Top off before entering the track. GIR is in the middle of nowhere and running out of gas will ruin your day and the poor guy that has to run to the gas station 5 miles away to fill-up a container for you.

Lug Nuts and Center Caps.

Absolutely no CENTER CAPS allowed on the course because they will fly off when your front wheels heat up due to heavy braking. Leave that at home or remove them prior to running.

Check your lug nuts to make sure they are properly torqued. Especially those who will be changing out their wheels and tires prior to the event.


Interior Items:

Remove all floor mats, radar detectors, E-Pass/Sun Pass, loose paper, coffee cups, dancing hula dolls etc.. Things will fly around while you are driving and could cause a dangerous distraction. Floor mats could easily cause a pedal to get stuck and also cause a very dangerous situation.

Misc. Items:

Everyone should make an attempt to bring the following items to make the day more enjoyable:


Cooler with plenty of fluids ( you will get hot and dehydrated)
Sun tan lotion
EZ Up Tents (PM me if you plan on bringing one)
Folding Chairs (the more the merrier)
Umbrellas and rain gear
Snacks
2 way Family Band Radios
Bug Repellent
Trash Bags
Sunglasses
Distilled Water and hand sanitizer ( there are port-o-potties, that's it...)
