The Tri-Point folks are really coming on! Scott Bradley (a rookie in the Speed Touring Car Series) put his Pro on the pole...finishing 4th overall. This past weekend at LimeRock, the #40 Protege of Tri-Point took #6th place.

bob, you're always right on that media stuff, hehe. why would they put a mp3 front end on a es??? i dun get it.

Better aerodynamics. The front clip they have actually has a fairly large chin spoiler attached to the bottom of it.

I watched the broadcast of the Mosport race. Man it sucks to see Roger Foo's P5 engulfed in burning oil smoke after 2 laps, but the Foo fighter was very calm admist all the smoke, slowly crawled out of the car, grabbed a fire extinguisher, and nonchalantly took out the fire!!! :D :D :D

And he finally had a clean race at Lime Rock, way to go Foo!!! :D

Foo was calm for two reasons: Not HIS car this year and he got out.

The MP3 front end is perfect for the race Proteges...it is the same nose as seen on the Pro5 AND the MP3 in the TV commericals...(you never see a DX on TV, do you?) plus as cfbjr points out it has better aero. The race teams refer to the cars as Mazda Protege MP3s...you go with the image! I'm not 100% sold on the white hood...but you sure NOTICE them, right?

Speaking of hood treatments...think about this...carbon fibre hood, sand and paint the stock color (blue or yellow) on the outsides of the hood and leave the center down to the grill in the carbon fibre. That would look excellent, IMHO.

When Foo's car blew up the backside had a close up of our protege club sticker that they let us put on the back of his car....toprotege.com (toronto protege club) it was kinda cool!

And go MP3s GO!

Some questions:

Does anyone have pics of this car burning?

Does anyone know excatly what went wrong?

Anyone else racing a p5 in a series?

Thanks

I don't think so, I saw it on TV...Check the SPEED World Challenge web-site for pics...

I think he blew an oil line and the oil was blowing onto the header which caught fire. It looked like the smoke pretty much stopped when he stopped the car and turned it off.

I don't know.

No problem...

Thanks StuttersC,

Doesn't Foo know a protege5.com sticker not only adds more power but improves reliability!
