Protege Garage Turbo Inlet Installed

Anyone have pics of the red wrinkle powdercoat up close? Trying to see how well it would match my red CP-e CAI.

EDIT: nevermind, found pics in the GB thread.

Cool. Viper is still out here. I'm at Thunder as a Jet Engine Mech.

Yeah I'm sure. Viper side are the aggressors for Red Flag. Went TDY with Viper several times for Maple flag as well up in Canada. 422 side tests cool stuff. Back in 1996 or 7 we were the first to load up live test of the jdam supposedly. Went out to china lake to watch it in action. Way cool. Way cheaper than laser! 30k feet up, no line of sight necessary, hit the target bullseye.

Buddy of mine worked at one of the F-15 squadrons, avionics. (damn I can't believe I forgot...worked on the strike)

I don't miss crawling around on top of jets in 115* for 12 hours.

Must be Strike. Yea..workin mids for the summer is the best. No 115 for me.

Haven't had a chance to check the code yet, but have a CEL - it even came back after pulling the battery for a 'repair' last night. grrrrrrrrr

Thanks for the offer Kevin! Interestingly enough - it turned off. I'll have to scan and see what it was.

On another note... GOT THE COBB DOWNPIPE TODAY! Thanks Ken and I will have a new TBE installed tomorrow - COBB catted downpipe and Turbo XS CBE. :)

you're welcome sir

And now it and the Turbo XS CBE are installed... dammit it sounds fantastic! (nana)(drinks)(naughty)

Anytime, give me a shout for code reading/clearing.

I'd like to hear that exhaust! I still only have the cpe downpipe, I've never heard a MS3 in person with a full TBE.

What's your work schedule like on Friday? I could use someone to help record startup, rev and pass vid ;)

I'd even let you drive...

Normal day, but not very busy so I can sneak some time in. You free during the day? I don't need to drive it :) I'm hard on cars.

I've had my inlet in for a day now, and I like the piece.
The car pulls hard. The spool up is more audible.
But when my hks bov goes off... I get a weird high pitched bark in full boost.
And a deep whistle in low boost... Is this normal?

Yeah... Normal. I've heard one with the inlet and HKS "hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo-hoooo"

My forge just makes a pronounced, mechanical "CH!" sound at low boost instead of the "SHH-PING!" at high boost.

Some people calls it "pigeon", "flutter", "turkey" and some other names. I'm assuming you have an after market bov/bpv. You might not be able to hear it with the stock bpv. No worries it's normal. If you have an adjustable bov/bpv you can loosen it to get rid some of that noise. I have a turbosmart dual port in bpv mode. It's loosened almost all the way. I get minimal flutter noise and still holds boost like a champ. I believe what we are hearing is the wastegate and not compressor surge since our turbo is too small to cause that. Correct me if I am wrong. I don't know much about this.
