protege garage test pipe

I think its meant for those who have the full turbo back.

Like one guy on here that did a DP back exhaust now needs this test pipe to be solid. I still dont understand all of it but my guess is that adding this pipe to stock is not going to help much.

That test pipe states that it is 3" and the stock exhaust is 2.5" (i believe). So in theory it would not work with a stock exhaust setup. Someone please correct me if I am wrong.

it says in the description that it has stock flange sizes... i think it should fit.
* Thick waterjet cut flanges matched to stock measurements

still don't know if there'll be any gains though... wondering if i should just take my car to a shop and have them make a custom catback... i don't have $600 for an exhaust.

I have always gone to shops and have them make me up cat backs but not mandrel bent. I am wondering if "upgrading" to a custom CBE will be "downgrading" since we have mandrel bent pipe to start with.

if the exhaust shop is using crush bent material, then yes, it will be downgrading.

you can find plenty of online supplies of mandrel bent piping. buy some of the curved pieces, take it into an exhaust shop, and they should be able to weld it up for you !!!

Would be better to find a shop that can mandrel bend on site becuase unless you buy the online kits I dont think buying several randomn pieces is going to work.

there's a shop here that does mandrel bends. it's called bobs muffler.

Went to a shop today and they said I cant beat the stock set up and wouldnt sell me anything, lol. He said he could make it louder but zero performance gains. He also said I would be tossing out a SS mandrel bent system which would be sort of stupid since all the resonators are straight through and there are no obstructions.

For this car he suggests leave the stock system inplace and that those test pipes ect are illegal anyway. So basically I guess the only true gains would be a slightly larger turbo back system that is going to illegal and cause issues with smog and s*** down the road.

Here in Cali I have seen cops pull people over and check all this s*** and write tickets on the spot so no thanks to this.

it has been established that on stock/lightly modded cars there is nothing to be gained with a new cat-back. there is PLENTY of power to be found with down pipes/test pipes!! the faster turbo spool is worth it by itself.

turboXS posts 25 to 30whp gains with the same size and lesser quality materials pipe.

this pipe will fit with all current setups except the vibrant - stock or aftermarket

btw, i'm just thinking about the test pipe, not the test pipe and down pipe...

im not sure if the exhaust was still stock or not. it was on the other 3 forum. beansoldier did a ton of individual part dynos.

me too. i got paid friday but my mom has the mail key in arkansas. i'll be ordering one on monday. discount? haha. no but seriously...
