protege 5 vs matrix?

i used to be a hardcore toyota fan. . .but things change. . .yesterday i was at the toyota dealership getting my mom's oil changed and while i was waiting i decided to look around. well they had a nice little black matrix with a trd body kit, wheels, and better tires. i didn't really see anything else on it but when the lady approached me and i asked for the sticker she said 26k ::wtf:: with 26k i could get a much cooler car and then i told her that i got a p5 instead and was just looking around the lady just started bashing mazda saying that it's not toyota and that extra quality just comes with the extra price. . . .. .

man if i had the extra 8k that i had if i were to buy that matrix instead of my car right now. . ... man that's a lot of goodies for my 03 p5

the matrix xrs is a souped up version of the matrix and for the same amount of cash i could be driving mazdaspeed.....now that would be a race! bye bye matrix!

Well I guess you can feel pretty stupid when a mini SUV spanks that ass in any kind of race. The P5 is a great car, excellent handling, I would know I own a P5 too, but for real wake up and smell the exhaust because thats where you would be in a race.

I would not mind seeing how well I would do vs. a Mazdaspeed Protege, I bet it would be close, from the stats I know the 0-60 and 1/4 mile times are very similar stock for stock.

I don't know where you all car shop but I got mine for $19,250 and 800 for the 6yr 100,000 mile warranty: XRS, 6speed, 6 disc cd changer, front and side curtain airbags, sunroof, etc. etc.

Like I said anytime you would like to test my words let me know!! I'm in Harrisburg PA.

mazdaspeed would blow your socks away...in case you dont know it's turbo charged.
by the time you rev you engine to get any
usable power (yes, u have to really rev that 180hp thing to get any decent pwr...anyway,who is going to drive around in 1st or 2nd gear at 7000rpm to get that 180hp?) the mazdaspeed or even the pro5 would have you in its rear view mirror!

haha well here is an update: I raced two Matrixes the other day; one was a stock lower version or something, and the other was an XRS. I have yet to race my friend, however. In the race with the lower version, I won by about half a car, light to light. The XLS was a different story. I held with it without much of a problem up until about third, when he started to pull away. Then things started to even out, with him in the lead. The worst thing is, the whole race would have ended differently if it were not for that sixth speed. Once he hit sixth, he just pulled away. Dammit.

At that point, I was moving pretty fast in a 55mph zone, so I hit the brakes...I can't afford any more tickets. Oh well, this just means I have some heavy modding to do on the P5 after all. LOL

I'll be sure to post more when I actually race my friend, and get his input on the matter (after we race).

You could be in 4th well past the posted speed of 55 so I don't know why he would have ever needed to shift into 6th....that's an overdrive good-gas-milage gear.

LOL In F'Burg, plenty of places on clear non busy roads where no cops come. F'burg in some areas only has a few sherrifs. Average response time to a 911 call where I lived there-15-20minutes. Number of cops I saw living there for 2yrs-8.

But if you really want to we can all plan a trip to Maryland International Raceway (MIR dragstrip) or Crapatiol (drag).

well i dont know anything about the matrix cuz i never thought its a nice car. My 03 p5 i just got this weekend and man! the handling is great. Nothing compare to my civics before. About the matrix. i might not be able to kill him on a 1/4 mile w/ my p5 i will definitely take him on my dohc 1.8L 323 that weighs 2,200 lbs.
