Protege 5 Brake Upgrade

I'm considering this upgrade when the brakes need servicing. Does anyone know if the swap to the 626 set-up will clear a 14" rim? I have a second set of dedicated winters for the car that are mounted in 14" rims.

no, it will or will not clear a 15 depending on the rim/where the weights are placed. i had to sell my 626 15s because the caliper was ripping the weights off, and i had to drive 2+ hrs to autox's so just running without them wasnt an option.

i just have problems believing that you have 1/3rd pad left after 70k miles. considering that stockers are only rated at 50k. i think you missed my point that crossdrilled/slotted rotors are pointless but ok. also, read your posts before you post them. that made almost no sense
I do read & reread posts b4 posting. What sense didn't my post make? I think you missed my point that pretty much anything aftermarket, especially power related ones other than a turbo kit, for this car can be considered pointless. Doesn't stop everyone from doing some or a lot of them. Care to speak to the other examples above of mileage? My mileage doesn't seem to far fetched it seems. OEMs are good but not the holy grail, especially for the price. I kept them for backups. As always, it's a preference thing & nobody's choice is the end all for everyone. IMO, based upon my own experience & driving habits, what I went with WAS & IS an upgrade to my non ABS oem setup. Stops all crazy good on a dime, no lock ups with any of the 3 different tire sets that have been on the car, no caliper issues & noticeably better pedal feel with the ss lines.
***edit***big brake kits on these cars seem pretty pointless too if it's not turboed or track car. Again....preference.

Yeah, don't waste your time with c/s Brembo rotors or Hawk HPS pads. They've only lasted close to 70000 miles with 1/3 pad still left & plenty of rotor left too. They've been flawless in every situation & they're only slightly dustier than oem, you don't want that & don't waste any money on a good set of ss lines, they suck too & make no difference whatsoever.

that didn't make sense to me, i had to read it more than once. are you saying not to buy them because they last that long? or is that not the setup your running? confused ... or is this just bad use of sarcasm? not hating, just lost.

Squeezing every bit of sarcasm available out of it. That IS my setup & I'm never saying buy anything here, just reporting my experiences. People are on their own with their decisions. IMO taking in consideration my own driving habits & environment, they have been a definite improvement over the oem setup.
