I just thought that i'd share my good news with my fellow mazda enthusiast.
Yesterday I recieved my board results from my unit that I have been selected in the ARMY NCO CORPS to be promoted to Staff Sergeant (E-6). My hard work and dedication to the military and our country is paying off. personally, I am the youngest SSG that I know at age 22.

My short military story:
I joined in high school right after my 17th B-day and busted my ass as a junior enlisted soldier. earned my SGT by busting my ass even more and getting on the excellence list at PLDC (sgt school for the non-military) being a leader of soldiers and also taking on the responsibility of retention for my unit.

my unit is now in pre-deployment so this is just in time before our anticipated deployment overseas.

thanks for reading!!

thanks chris! and of course its good, you just have to do your best to set the example...

Must be nice! SSGT at 22, that can only happen in the Army. Hell I'd be lucky to be Cpl at that age in the Corps. lol

Congrats SSG! I recieved mine at 23, just under 6 years in the Army. I had to bust my ass to get that too. Its not so easy. a lot of hard work and responsibility. Good luck with the pre-deployment, i just got back from Iraq after a 18 month deployment. I had orders for 545 days! Now my sister is going down range, sucks, but i guess its in the family. I have 2 cousin out there and 1 auntie. Peace!

From one Staff Sergeant to another, Congratulations. Only difference is i'm an Air Force SSGT, E-5. I'm 22, too.

PS: Hope you can take pain... This is the present I got on my arm from most of my squadron after I got promoted. They 'tacked on' the stripes :)

I would have rather had that then getting "blood stripes". For those that KNOW what it is, you're probably cringing right now. For those that DONT, its when you have metal NCO stripes with pins in the back of them pushed into your skin and then someone punches it in you. Well, quite a few people punch you in the same spot... anyhow.... it really hurts. lol

yeah, our officers get that. :) Us enlisted AF folk get punched in both arms in the same spot by 200+ people....
