problems with my AEM intake

Hi all,

I installed my AEM short ram intake a few days ago.

I find my car loses significant amont of low end torque and it consumes more fuel. Is this normal?

Can i do anything to improve the situation?

Sounds to me like you installed it in conjunction with your existing air filter. ;) j/k No, that isn't normal. You should see a significant increase in gas mileage and a slight increase in power. Uninstall it and try again from scratch. Good luck.

Have you tried maybe seeing if any vacuum lines came off during installation? Accidentally of course. Also, check to see all the clamps are held tight together, the rubber donuts are snug, there's no leakage from the filter all the way to the throttle body. All your sensors plugged back in.

You should also disconnect the negative teminal to reset the ECU, before installation. And connect it when you're done.

If you didn't the ECU is still using your stock fuel maps and is getting mixed signals with the extra air and new temp. readings.

You actually don't need to redo the installation if you didn't do this. Just disconnect the battery for about 30 min. (typical install length) and restart. Some people like to press the brake pedal to get rid of any current in the ABS sys. but I don't think that mattered much.

Good Luck

When my AEM got installed..I didn't reset my ecu at all. No CEL/MIL. There is definitely power increase in the higher rpms, but I find the lower end is just as good, especially around 2500-3500rpm.

Didn't reset my ECU, intake noise got louder, power increase a little bit, but after a month I started getting unbelieveable gas mileage increase (well, not THAT unbelieveable but I never would've guessed).... now I'm getting at least 420 miles for a tank of 93 gas....

Oops, forgot my suggestion before posting.... check to see if you have all the hoses bolted in tight or you'll have a leak, leak is a major enemy to your engine, so be careful on that...
