Problem after adding Short Shifter

About 3 weeks ago I installed the TWM stage 2 SS with base bushings. Install went well and it felt great afterwards. The shifts were very nice and crisp with no play at all in the shifter.

So the past week I have noticed there is a lot of slack in the shifter. In gear it will move 1/4 inch either way. Its very annoying and makes it feel sloppy while shifting. So I took the covers and the boot off to check things out and it seems like the bushing where the pin is has worn out making for the play.(where the shifter slides up and down for reverse)

I went to the dealership today and they can't pull up the bushing on their charts. The whole shifter assembly has to be ordered and its over 200 bucks.
So my question is has anyone had this problem after installing the short shifter?? Or does anyone know of where to get an upgraded bushing the same size?

-Thanx

If I could understand more clearly which way the shifter is having play I may be able to help. After installing my stage 2 w/ bushings I noticed that not only was it a little difficult to get the shifter into first gear...but there was also side to side play. Like the shifter was pivoting inside that shifter tube(the one that the pin slides into)
I got really annoyed and examined my work. I found that the pin just wasnt in the shaft far enough and was contacting the white rubber stopper on the drivers side. This was not only the cause of not being able to get it into first but also made me realise that if I pushed the pin another couple mm the pin is thicker and would fill the slot on the shaft. After pounding the pin into place the shifter did not pivot anymore and putting the car in first was like butter...like it should be.

I am not familiar with the bushing you speak of but if it is the one on the end of the pin i think you may be able to fab something up to make the pin work.

That would suck REALLY bad to have to spend 200 dollars more just to get a bushing

I will post a pic this weekend. I know the pin is in all the way since I hit it with a hammer til it would not go in any further. I have no problems going into first.

But this bushing is on the end of the pin. I contacted TWM performance and they said I was the first person to have this problem. They said they are fabbing up an upgraded bushing for me and will let me know when its available :)

I think I can picture what you are talking about. I'm glad TWM is trying to assist you. They will most likely come up with the best solution for you.
Post pics and good luck!
