I just picked up a set of halogen foglight projectors off a buddy's 06 tiburon.
Plugged em in to test output. Pics below. Keep in mind, I am just holding them by hand.
Yeah, I know, it's aim'd a tad bit high.lol
Here's my current fog pattern with PIAA plasma ion h3 bulbs
I just pick'd up some broken oem pro5 foglights like those on my car currently. I am going to be removing all the glass from them, machining out the back of the housing, and mounting the new projector inside of it and machining out a cover painted black with a hole in the center for the projector to show through with a chrome shroud around the projector.
More pics will be on the way once the broken housings show up
I will also be swapping the bulbs in the fogs for PIAA 2300K plasma ion halogen bulbs, halogen doing better in the foul weather
Also as a side note, I've got a friend working on retrofitting in some FX35 color modded clear lenes into sedan headlight housings with custom molded led turnsignals and possible halo kit. As soon as I hear more from him and pics, I'll be posting.
Just finished uploading the pics of my weekend to photobucket.
Project: retrofitting projector foglights out of an 06 Tiburon into our stock housings.
Total cost of project to day: $20 for the high temp epoxy. Everything else was given to me.
Alright, gotta make this fit into that
A little turning of a 3" hole should suffice.
The beast that made the hole
The thing that ran the beast that made the hole
First machined a 2.5" hole, wasn't gonna cut it. 3" appears to do it
After looking at it's backside, I don't know what all will need done to the car to fit that through!!
Sitting on the workdesk with the new 9006 pigtail connectors rigged to stock fog harness
The stock foglight brackets that are needing some modification
Here's the tool for the job
Well, at least I thought it was the tool for the job. It dug out about this much before crapping out
A trip to Home Depot to rent a bigger drill and I am now equiped with this
And in no time, this!
Didn't realize there was more metal behind that. Time to make it look like this
What fell out of the bumper when I was done
The carnage of a 2" holesaw catching and spinning out of my hands and punching me in the face
Driver's side bolt in place
Wired up for a comparison shot
Both installed and wired. Once I find something to fill them in, I think they will compliment the projector headlights quite nicely
Also, keep in mind that I will be installing some Projector retrofitted sedan housings soon as well, so, they should compliment each other well.
Also, i took the projector fogs out, I have the stock fogs back in so it doesn't look unfinished or broken
Any thoughts or opinions? Like em? Love em? Hate em? Feel free!! Lemme know whatcha think!
