Yup...heres my official entry to the curse.

Driving to work, 70mph on highway, catch sight of some road debris up ahead in my lane. DECISION TIME! 1. Center it betwen wheels, i'll glide right over it! (NOT) 2. hmm, guess i better swerve...

Well, I chose to swerve...in a nonchalant 'i'm in control, this is no emergency' sorta way. I see retread tires and stuff on the road often here in tx.

So, I commence my swerve while looking in the rear view mirror thinking "tsk..that truck behind me is gonna hit this..WHAMM!!!!"

Huge hit. That wasnt rubber! I caught sight of the object flying from my lane into the slow lane ....I pulled over as soon as it was safe to ...and found my 'cute' car has taken on a darker sinister side.......Piercings.

I was not a happy camper, and had to find the offending object. Anyhow, the damage has been repaired, I'm a couple hundred bucks lighter, and now I cant shave the side moldings like i wanted to this summer because they hid a 'hard line' under it.

Anyhow...heres the the photos of the saga.

Jason

Ps. No wax/sealants etc for 60 days so it can cure. (hand)

In retrospect, could have been much worse given the nature of the obstacle.

Pic 1 - the offending obstacle
Pic 2 - dirty pic of damage
Pic 3 - same
Pic 4 - clean pic of damage
Pic 5 - clean pic of damage

continued

Heres the afters...

I think they did a good job...I was worried about matching etc etc. So..how did I hit that big ole stake? Well, it was lying prone in the highway so actually a smaller target....front right tire caught it on the swerve, caused it to lift up...and into the side of my car.

Glad this headache is in the past. Glad is was me driving, and not the girlfriend/parents/ etc.

It had a upc on it still, and says 'oz-post' on the stake .

I think it's something they jam into the ground, then hold up traffic signs with it....stop signs, etc

As for the damage, looked like opening a tuna can. Glad it's fixed....and no flat tires.

Jason

Goo thing it only damaged the door...could'a been kicked up by the truck and come through the windshield...

Glad to hear everything's ok now.

Googled....THE ORIGIONAL INSTANT POST HOLE....Wonder if it was DOT...sue the state for psycological damage....

Theres something fishy going on with p5's and all the accidents lately. Today I mysteriously found two lugg nuts from my passenger side front wheel had gone missing....

I smell a conspiracy.

looks like they did a good job on the repair! glad you and the car are both ok. white p5's ftw!

on a side note, I drove over a REALLY big pothole today (wasn't paying attention (hand)) and my car made a really loud bang noise. but I think she's still ok. just had to rub the dash and make a really big apology and promise to pay more attention to potholes...

looks like a ****** boat anchor!!! LOL

Well, they say they come in threes,....First I hit this object, then somebody pulled out in front of my buddy, and he proceded to rip the whole front fender off the other guys vehicle...,

and today, in stop and go traffic, somebody rear ended me on the highway @ around 5mph. (notcool)

Should buff out the marks....but have a new ding. I wonder if paintless dent repair is costly.

Jason

Careful out there p5 owners!

I have been keeping my car in the garage for the past few days because I have been working on it and driving it as little as possible. Hope my tactics work

Oh yeah, living in New England is just dodging potholes non-stop!
I saw a busted rim at a shop yesterday. Real SSRs, not copies, sheared the polished lip in the center! OUCH! They sed 70 mph also caught the back rim too. Ruined those babies.

ouch, that sucks dude :(. Sounds like the GACC curse, but you're clearly niether in Georgia nor Alabama lol.

A week after I got mine in 2001 some truck or something backed in to my parked P5 and dented the hood, a brick hit my fender on the highway, and a couple of years ago it was keyed. Also got a ton of bolt marks in my back bumper from a-holes that cant parallel park.
