2003 Black P5
I test drive the P5 on Saturday and I can't wait!!!! I just got a quote from the dealer and a Fully loaded P5 goes for 16,500 with the 2,500 rebate the have now. I think this is a hell of a deal! I will be getting it in writing tomorrow. :p Should I haggle this or feel pretty good about it?

I believe you could get one pretty loaded for around 14-15 depending one equipment. The dealers here are taking $4500 off list.

Dayummm...Well I think the list is 20,000. The 4,500 0ff that is that with the rebate or without? If I can get this car for around 15 thats more money towards goodies ;)

With rebate. Also if you are a recent college grad they will take of $500 more.

There is a $2500 rebate on the car right now and also $500 Dealer Cash...which is an extra rebate that the dealer does not have to advertise, but is there. So in essence, you could buy for $3000 under invoice or $3500 under if you are a college grad as well.

$2500 rebate
$500 Dealer cash
$500 College Grad cash

Wow! So Do I tell them about the dealer's rebate? Or try to haggle knowing that its there? I hope there isn't too much bs getting a good deal. I am going to say that between 4000 and 4500 below list is a good deal. Thanks again

You can tell them or not. They will use it to do the deal. They want to unload these cars. I'd say 4000-4500 off list is good enough. Anymore and I'd feel guilty! :D

As others have stated:

$2,500 customer cash

$500 dealer incentive

Other info:

Base Dealer cost including Dest $16,313

The dealer also has a $338 kick back of some sort - I won't reveal my source on this one

So, $16,313 - 2,500 - 500 - 338 = $12,975 actual dealer cost. Interesting that this is the exact price Jim Ellis Mazda (Atlanta area) is advertising for base P5's isn't it.

Now you know what number to start from. Go to Edmunds.com to find the dealer cost for each option on the car you are looking at. Simply add these to the base of $12,975 to get the true dealer cost of the vehicle.

Now, the salesman should make something on the sale. Afterall, that is their only source of income. $300 is fair in my opinion.

A tip on financing. I always use PeopleFirst.com (now capitaloneautofinance.com - both web addresses lead to same place). I recently got a loan at 4.09% for 60 months for the purchase of my P5 from them. They will FedEx a certified blank check to you valid up to the amount you qualified for. This makes things extremely easy and can actually help get you a good deal from the finance guy at the dealership. The finance guy doesn't make a thing from a sale unless he arranges the financing. When he sees that blank check he is going to do anything possible to attempt to beat it. The best deal he could offer me was 3.59% financing for 60 months, but it required that I buy an extended warranty (7 years/100,000 miles) for $1000. This equates to about $14 more a month and about $880 over the life of the loan. Not a bad deal, but I stuck with my PeopleFirst as they have ALWAYS been great to me. Finance guy was pissed.

Thanks again for all the info its very much appreciated!!!! Damn so I am thinking I can get this for around 14,000-15,000..yowzers!

My new P5 stickered at $19.6K. It's laser blue, 5-spd, sunroof, 6-disk cd, 6 speaker, leather, abs+ebd, chrome wheels, mazdaspeed exhaust......I haggled the price of the car to $300 below invoice and then subtracted $2750 in rebates. I was unaware of the dealer cash. Had I known that I would've pressed a little harder. However, I got the exhaust for free and feel satisfied! I believe after it was all said and done my car stickered at $19,850 and I paid a hair over $15K....it was like 14.8+TTL.

Wow..I Think mine stickered for around that 20,something. I am going to try to get it for 15,something. Damn and I was happy paying the 16,500 for it :D

Hearing these current prices makes me wanna cry!

I paid $17500 for mine in March of this year... manual, ABS, moonroof, 6 in dash CD, cloth...

I WANNA CRY!!!

I got mine in April 03, pretty much fully loaded (see sig for options), for $16,500+taxand license, for a total OTD price of around $18,020.

Here is the skinny on the pricing:

$15976 and $16569 using the $2500 customer cash.

roof rack, polished wheels, abs, side air bags, roof, 6 disc cd, leather, net

both Black, one has a cass and alarm.

so your saying I should ask for 15,000 or 15,500? Edmunds invoice is 18,633 and 18,969 without the rebate. I was thinking of an aftermarket alarm anaway and I don't remember the last time I saw a cassette.. and its 200 bucks! :bs: Is their stock alarm any good? For the same price I can get the compustar 2WSS-S dealy. :) Thanks again for all of your help!! I'll make sure to treat her well :D

$17,400 AT with Leather, sub, alarm, ABS and Side air bags.

Financed a little over 20k because of negative equity. :(
