2001 bmw M5. Anyone that knows the M cars...absolutely the finest 400hp 4 door sedan out there..well the new v10 m5 is out plus some but still...many regard the E39 M5 as the benchmark that even the new models can't seem to surpass.

how did you ever justify getting rid of this car!?! My dad has a 00 540i with the M treatments and a v8, that thing is a beast, I can only imagine that car with the v10. I want a 85-87 m5 project car, very rare but awesome

Wow, some of you really are car freaks.

1994 - 84 Jetta coupe, 4 spd mtx with 85 GTI engine.. Fun until I was rear-ended into a ditch & tree. Ouch. Insurance rates went way up.

1996 - 88 Audi 90, 5 spd mtx, drove to 280,000 miles. Damn I loved that car.

1999 - 96 Saturn SC2, 5 spd mtx, cheap and not too reliable. Burned oil.

2002 - 02 Protege 5, I still miss it daily.
2003 - 04 GTI VR6, good car but way too soft of a stock suspension. Only time I had 2 cars at once, also..

2007 - 07 MS3, I plan to keep this thing for quite a while..

You sound like me; I was also looking at an E39 M5 and an E46 M3. I decided to save the @$10,000 and maybe get another bike -I'm thinking Triumph Street Triple- or just keep saving for several more years and get the 1979 M1 I keep promising myself for a retirement present...

Ok, here is the list as best I remember it. I'm sure some of the model years are probably wrong. Also, I'm 39 and didn't get my first car until I was 22.

1970 Oldsmobile delta 88. 350 4 barel, 26,000 miles and the original bias-py tires. 11 MPG - wrecked it.
1975 Volvo 245 - My mom bought this car in 1977 and I took it to college in 1887. It had 350,000 mile on it when I got rid of it. Bulletproof and a great car for the time.
1989 Pontiac LeMans (aka koreian bult Opel Kadet). I started auto-xing in this car. It pulled an average of .99 G around a 200ft skidpad with Yokohama 008R-TU race tires on it, the next week I flipped it while auto-xing it. Lesson learned, don't race a car that the bank still owns.
87 VW Jetta - Gold - Pretty standard car.
84 VW Scirocco - this started out as my daily driver and eventually became a garage queen auto-x car. I owned and raced this car for 14 years.
83 Scirocco - A beat to hell driver that I used when the 84 started staying in the garage. Previous owner must have had jet skis as the entire back of the car was rusting.
82 Rabbit GTI - I have never had a car that was so much fun to beat on!!!!! The MS3 comes darn close though.
86 Scirocco 16V - Bought not running and in need of some love - fixed it up and drove it for a few years. Nice, but I hated the Tokico springs that I put on it.
89 Volvo 245 - Gift from my parents (they couldn't sell it!!!) that replaced the 16V.
92 VW Corrado SLC (VR6) - got bored of the Volvo and bought this. Red with tan leather, one of 50 impotred that way. Great car to drive, horrible to fix and part costs were insane. Did I mention that it broke a lot? This is the car that put me off of the new VW's.
87 VW Jetta 16V Blueberry w Recarro seats and BBS Wheels - Good used car, but had been hit and badly repaired on each corner. I put a cam and header on it. Fun, but the body work bothered me.
80 Scirocco - Got this car in the deal with the 87 VW Jetta. Held on to if for a while then sold it.
80 Something Integra with pop up headlights. I had this car a month and hated it. In that time I put new shocks/stuts, brakes, timing belt and clutch in it. Sold it for what I bought the car for + the cost of the parts. I did all the labor so it was basically a wash.
85 VW Scirocco - This was a friends auto-x car at one time. I drove it on the street for about 1.5 years. Race springs, header, big exhaust, Tokico's, urethane motor mounts, ets. For some reason it had a hydo motor it and it was slow as a dog (at least compared to my 84). Sold it when the front seat hit my daughter in the head as she was getting out of the back and she had a seizure.
87 Mitsu Galant - Family Car
89 Volvo 240 Sedan. - Big old tank with 4 doors. Replaced the 85 Rocco. It was also my first automatic car since the Olds. I found a set of Eibachs for it in the yard for $40. Those plus a turbo model front sway bar made it handle pretty well. Still it was a peice of worn out junk.
1972 Volvo 1800E - I sold the 84 Scirocco as my wife didn't really understand the need for $1200 of race tires a year, plus we were having a second child. I bought this to replace it so I would haver something to tinker with. It's cool, but not a racer.
04 Honda Element - Family Car
92 Volvo 740 Turbo Sedan. Great car, didn't handle too well though and was horrible in the snow. Some drunk hit while parked in fron my house and shoved it about 50ft.
94 Vovlo 850 Turbo Wagon. Good power, espacially with a MBC. Auto trans was awsome!!!!! See the the notes on the Corrado about part prices and reliability.
04 Mazda 3 - Great little car, wish I had bought a stick.
07 Mazda 5 - Family car - and actually very good at it.
07 Madzaspeed 3 - This one is a stick, and fast too.

There are a couple of other old VW's that I had for maybe a couple of monthst that I didn't list, plus the Maxima my wife owned when we got married. Also I lowered everyone of the VW's on the list, the Honcura and one of the Volvos.

I'll play:

1976 Chrysler New Yorker
1966 Ford Mustang
1982 Mazda RX-7
1992 Nissan Sentra
1995 Nissan Maxima
1994 Nissan Pathfinder
2000 Nissan Quest
1999 Ford Mustang GT
1991 Toyota Supra N/A
1995 Chevrolet Camaro Z28
2000 Chevrolet Tahoe
2006 Mazda 3 5dr
2006 Toyota Tundra

Damn, some of you have gone through a lot of cars!!! (boom05)

I'm 31 years old and got my first car at 16.

76 VW Bug - Fuel injected piece of crap. The injectors kept clogging and cost me a crap load. I though Bugs were supposed to be cheap. I loved it though and had it 6 years. Fond, fond memories :)

95 Chevy S-10. Great little pickup that would never die. Put 120K miles on it and the only thing that went wrong with it was a clogged fuel filter.

97 Eclipse GST - mods listed in sig. Great car. Loved every second of it until it started to break down on me at 120K miles. Still think its one of the sexiest looking cars out there. Got me completely hooked on turbos.

00 Pontaic Grand Prix GTP (ex wifes old car) - superchared fun but had some major mechanical problems after about 60K.

07 MS3 GT -Great car with tons of power. Feels a little to refined sometimes and I miss that raw feel of my Eclipse sometimes. I don't like not having full control over the throttle plate ;)

88 BMW 325i- Stock, was a fun car, but cost way too much for maintanance.

99 Saab 9-3, loved this car, 3in TBE, Custom CAI, Custom FMIC, Forge BOV, Nordic stage 3 tunning, 270hp 295tq. was an awesome car.

2007 Speed3- absolutely my favorite of the bunch right now, and its still stock. I absolutely love the car.
