powered liftgate stuck

One of my kids jackets got stuck in the powered tailgate and the result is that it won't open anymore. I have tried with the key and operating the manual lever behind the cap in the trunk. The jacket is so firmly stuck that I cannot pull it out - any ideas on how to open the tailgate manually?

same exact thing happened to me just last week, a beach towel got jammed and I couldn't open the trunk at all, I had to crawl inside into the cargo area and use the manual override lever like you mentioned and I had to tug hard and push the trunk lid hard as I held the override lever open, eventually the lid did open, hopes this helps, good luck.

Have some one push the door closed then you pull the release lever. Once you've pulled the lever have them try to open it. Usually pushing it in will give the mechanism enough space to loosen up.
