Powdercoated Stock Rims

Finally Finished

All in all it took me a good week for everything. I sanded down each rim with a sanding disc. That took about 3 hours per rim. Then I gave everything a good wash, taped the tires up and primed them. Gave them 3 coats of paint and I added 6 clear coats to really help with the durability and the gloss. It gave it more of a "matte" type of finish. I'm really happy with the end result.

Here are a few pics of the final product. The pics from far don't do it justice, it looks soo much nicer in person, especially when it's rolling. Coupled with the red calipers, it looks pure sex (butthump).

that looks great, well done. keep in mind that they probably won't last a real long time, but that said, all you have to do to keep them in top shape is re-paint them again...not a big deal. i really like the look -- especially with the black on black and red calipers!

Great job, but I don't think the color quite works--maybe do your emblems and badges the same way to get a theme going?

Slap some 8mm wheel spacers on there!

Nah, that's the reason I took the time to tape up the chrome emblem in the center of the rims. That way it matches the bolts and the logos on the car.

As for the spacers, I think I'm gonna do it. The only thing is I will need longer nuts as well correct?

Matt

I would definitely recommend longer studs. I run 3mm spacers with stock studs on my race wheels and they haven't fallen off yet :) I don't think I'd do much more than that though.

Do you have a different camera or something? I want to see some better pictures. It looks like you did a good job, I just can't decide if I like the color or not :D I should do this to my stockers once I get my new wheels on, since the stockers will be winter duty.

No don't have a better camera. This is taken with my phone and my younger brother broke our digital one. I have a friend that wants to take a photoshoot of my car as soon as I install the MSP lip. I'll post them then.

For the spacers, what do you recommend? Is 8mm too much??

Matt

No, as long as you have long enough studs, it's just like reducing your wheels' offset by 8mm. Should have no rubbing issues with stock rims, even if you run 205s. May be ok with 215s, too.

I am sure they will be peeling again soon...Its that time of year.
I would never paint a wheel that gets year round use.....Only powder.
Do it right...or don't do it at all.
