PowderCoated or Painted Rims?

Quick questions guys, which one will hold up the longest and look the best. I saw on tv once that they actually painted the rim the same color as the car, but wouldnt that chip? I am looking to powdercoat my rims or paint them but first I would like some feedback. Let me know guys ( ohh and they are my stock rims)

if you can, powdercoat them. that is much stronger than paint. that being said, i've painted my extra set of rims and will get back to you on how they hold up, once i mount them.

My boyfriend powdercoated the frame of his bike, which was then hit by a car in a parking lot. All the paint chipped off, but the frame bent and nothing happened to the powdercoating! It dents and dings before chipping or cracking

ok so powdercoating holds up really well...now anyone have pics of there powdercoated wheels? The guy with the yellowspeed, he put his speed on protege 5 stock rims..did he powdercoat those?

even cleaner you use on your tires would thin out the paint on rims. Rims should only be powder coated. If you have a painted rim that hasn't had the paint come off with tire cleaner, it's because it has a powdercoated clear on it =P

well, in essence 90% of the wheels you see (yes even plain old silver) are powder coated... so really, they are everywhere... as for custom colored powdercoated there are quite a few on here that heve done it. It usually turns out nice

I dunno if you were looking for pics of Protege wheels, or pics in general, but here's one of my Miata wheels after I powder coated them (ignore the marks and such on there, it's just dirt and grease). I have to agree with the others that a powder coat finish is many times more durable than that of a paint finish.

I'm doing my extra set of P5 rims in our spare oven once I get them media blasted down. They just barely fit in a regular sized oven. Still debating on color though, any suggestions to go with my red P5?

kcbhiw, where did you get yours done, I'd love to powder coat my stockers
A friend of mine has a powder coater and an oven in his garage. I sandblasted and PC'd them myself.
