I thought you couldn't use the newer, slimer PS2 because it doesn't have shock protection. I was going to do an overhead setup like Lara was describing, but after I heard about the new PS2 I terminated the project. Maybe some info on what to do here? I heard the Xbox has shock protection but I don't want that bulky crap in the car.

What do you mean by "shock protection". I've modded, and gutted numerous xboxes. I'm not sure what you mean. The xbox has a rubber "condom" like thing wrapped around the hard drive, where the corners are solid rubber. But other than that, I don't see anything else which could be "shock protection". But the ps2 doesn't even have a hard drive, so thats not even needed. Besides I've seen xboxes with "aftermarket" hard drives (rubber jacket doesn't fit) accidentally dropped down a set of stairs and still power on fine.

The only other thing I can think of is that the xbox has plastic "columns" on each corner, its what the mains screws holding the unit together is threaded through. I don't know if the ps2 has this either, but if the housing is held together by a screw on each corner, chances are it does, and that applies to the slim line as well.

hmm, guess I never actually tossed apic of mine in here.

Basically no different than half of everyone else's, but hey, I've got mine too. Xenarc 7" TS molded in by me. I guess my screen border intact is about my only difference. I like it, though. It'll be black as soon as I get bored enough again.
