Post The Best Pictures of Your Mazda

I was reading the link that Neox has in his sig about going boosted on a P5/2.0l Protege. If you are using the stock MSP setup and aren't forged or built, having a FMIC is somewhat a negative.

Can anyone confirm this? I've been so eager to get a FMIC, perhaps I should just get an upgraded SMIC.

huh? How is having a fmic setup a negitive? Its better then the smic setup. Grant it a huge one isnt the best for low boost levels if thats what your saying due to lag.

yeah i bought a block from a protege from another guy on here for DIRT cheap. and the motor is being built with forged shi*. Lower compression pistons. i told them id advertise them. They built the worlds fastest fwd honda and worlds quickest awd four banger.they are the real deal and im their first mazda other than rotary. They will be pulling the old motor and the new one apart at the end of the week to compare what can and cannot be used. Im pretty stoked.

that picture is so epic... too bad we dont have palm trees here heh.

as for fmic/smic. i dont know enough to argue a valid point, but i definitly notice when the car warms up enough that the boost becomes less effective.

id get an fmic more for the airflow it gets even over the upgrade smic. even a small fmic.

anyone running those cx fmic's other than the obvious thread starter. pretty tempted by their kit being so cheap..

The only main differences between the msp and the reg pro from what I recall are...

The oil filter screw is longer for the plate for oil on the msp and theirs a wesge pan or whatever between the block and the pan as well. Nothing you cant swap between the two.

YES
running a FMIC on the stock turbo at under 10 psi is going to cause you to loose power

HOWEVER, as noted in my writeup, the turbolife/perrin FMIC is an exception to this...the piping distance is not much futher than the SMIC (even though the core is much larger)

yeah that is wat everyone has said. they are gonna just pull s*** apart and go at it with what they can. were only lookin to put around 300whp no more. i want the motor capable for more but at this time i dont want more. i just want a nice weekend scca car.

I wouldn't say loose power just way more turbo lag due to the more space required to be filled.

A shot of my sunlight silver in front of the OKC museum of art at night.
