They are external battery terminals. I have a kill switch located inside my car next to my seat. Pull the red and black caps off and you got posts. Attach jumper cables to the posts and the the other end of the jumpers to another car and you can jump or be jumped

Ok...I swear I have seen them out the back of race cars for safely turning off the battery in the event of a crash etc.

I stand corrected though.

You are correct. Most legit race cars do have them out the back for killing the battery. But yeah, these are just jumping posts.
