i used gimp.
shadow recovery, sharpen, local contrast, screen (50%), 2x overlay all for color and pop, then used the free select tool, outlined the areas I wanted, inverted the image then gaussian blur about 25 which is a bit harsh. still learning though.

the blur is good but the trees are way drowned out, needs more saturation and some contrast

yeaa i saw that after i saved it haha... and im using an online editor so i cant add contrast to specific sections on this one :/

looks pretty good though. personally, i'd like a bit more blur, but thats what I like about editing. everyone has their own tastes.

I tried an online program called Picnik. It's pretty neat
sorry if it's crude, but I figured that's not bad for under 5 mins online

I did some burning around the outside to take your focus away from the extra crap like the side street and the woman. I blurred heavy since you like it, brought back some color to the trees, added some vignetting, and added the slightest touch of HDR to the cars to make them pop. I took the first image and used it for the color edit in the second. Looking back, I was a bit sloppy with the recolor

lol. My wife is the Photoshop god, but photoshop is a bit much for me since I'm not much of a photographer editor. I just watched and listened to her enough to know some tricks. Picnik is perfect for me. I get the effects without all the crazy layers and BS associated with PS.
BTW, Picnik as a site is shutting down april 19th because....dun dun duuunnnnn...it's becoming a Google Chrome App HURRAYY!!!!
You can go ahead a download the app off the site, I did

you guys should try out GIMP. its free and powerful editing tool. not as dynamic as photoshop, but still good. also easier to use. I have a few tutorials on abstract art I made on youtube.

I'll check it out. My wife recently upgraded from Photoshop7 to CS5 I believe so she is relearning some stuff. I used a program way back in the day called open canvas for digital art. I have your youtube account so i'll check out your tutorials
