i had a box turtle named speedy for about 2 years (and yes this was before the whole beenie craze)

i found a painted turtle in my pool probably back in 87'. my g/f had a hot room-mate who had a russian turtle and three red-ear sliders in 01. i ended up letting her have my painted turtle so he could have some friends. was a pain in the ass keeping the tank clean and my mother did not like it.

they lived happily together for almost a year then one of the red ear sliders pretty much bit both rear legs off (i guess they were trying to mate, and red ear sliders are aggressive). my painted turtle was small becasue it was never given proper light to grow to full size......anyway, after spending close to $300 dollars at vet clinic the turtle died. guess he would have been okay with our portions of his legs the vet said. common condition with water turtles.....

mt g/f felt bad and ended up getting these two turtles for my last x-mas. one passed away in feb i believe from being sick in the beginning.

this is corky now and he has been living with three fish and gets a snail now and then. he likes to eat them.....he has eaten many gold fish, a crawfish, and a couple bottom eaters.....he can't catch the three fish in the 40 gallon tank now......

they are for the first couple years, but they are just about the smartest dog breed. they are so loyal and i just miss them terribly. they are a handful i admit, but after a couple years they calm down.
